101.1 FM History: When ABS purchased Rock 101, WCKN-FM, we wanted to turn things up a few notches. ABS, (Lee)Abrams, (Ken)Brown, and (Jon)Sinton, were not in the buisness to just float! Though I (still)concider Abrams a brilliant man, he had left the fold, before the purchase;...so, I guess it was just..."B.S.". Both moving "Everything" to Greenville, and changing the Calls, were just two of the items of forwardness. The move put it all on the 3rd floor of the Park Central building on Pleasantburg Drive; now Strayer University. We had applied for the WROQ calls, and the FCC gave us the release, via Certified Letter; (9/91). I would like to say that we had something going then; both Ratings & Revenue. Today, I, Personally, don't feel that the station is worthy of those calls. Such a pale reflection of correct-ness. We started (12/87) with 3200+ songs. Today, all they offer to the listener is a Short, Shallow, Burnt, Alledgedly Auditorium Tested, Consultant Approved, playlist of 400 or so. I'm not the only one that see it...
