106.7 Format Tweak?

What's up with 1067?

Seems like there was a quiet change in music last Friday night going into Saturday (according to yes.com)
They were playing pop-leaning alternative like O.A.R., The Fray, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, etc alongside 90s grunge and modern rock. That's all gone.

Now, there's Theory of a Deadman, Nickelback, Tool, Mudvayne, even Li'l Wayne, mixed in with 90s grunge staples like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Smashing Pumpkins. Looks like active rock is sneaking back into town under the "Radio 106.7" banner and just in time for Rock on the Range?

There have been significant market changes since 106.7 entered in late 2007. 99.7 dropped active rock, 97.1 dropped hot ac, and 107.9 picked up hot ac with a slight alternative lean.

;D I am happy. Finally new rock is back. I have a couple of suggestions though, update the logo and add in some sweet imaging and fellas, we have ourselves a radio station. See you at Rock on the Range!

Finally, the rock station I've been looking for in Columbus. This is the trend of a lot of the "Radio" formats. 92.3 in Cleveland has been similar to this for a while. Rage Against the Machine, White Zombie and Tool were definitely not in the playlist a few weeks ago. This will probably alienate the pop-based fans, but it's a smart move to fill the gap 99.7 left. Not sure why it took over a year to do it?

AAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! It appears you haven't even actually spent any time listening to 99.7 THE ROCK! Maybe you should before you post. SEE YOU AT ROCK ON THE RANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, maybe if the Rock didn't suck so bad since the flip from the Blitz, I would listen again. I don't really care to listen to ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Van Halen. You know, THE SAME SONGS THEY PLAY ON QFM96!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gee, like I couldn't have predicted you'd say something like that since this is the Nabco hater site. I thought we wanted locally owned and operated stations to succeed. Guess I was wrong. 99.7 PLAYS NEW MUSIC and rocks as hard as the Blitz did....Again, listen before you post, especially if they're going to be comapred to 106.7 UGH!...BTW, since nobody else will post it, ratings are on their way UP for The Rock. Have a nice weekend.

Actually, someone did refer to it --Allfirdup on the infamous "Is WVKO In Trouble?" thread:

"And it looks like Bob and Tom took their listeners with them to 99.7."

I don't know whether the B&T reference is just an educated guess, or whether the daypart breakouts show that mornings drove 99.7's overall uptick.

Welcome to Clear Channel's Premium Choice. The talented Laura Lee, who (imho) has done a great job with WRXS, is now relegated to the position of Executive Producer.

Bummer for her and us.

But still PD of the Brew? Given that the "Brew format" exists in only two other markets, I don't see how 105.7 could be PC'd without a format change.

Ok, so it's not only me. I thought I had the wrong station as I only flip to Radio 106.7 on the weekends... otherwise I am listening to The Fan so when I switched to WRXS Saturday I was pretty sure I hit the wrong button. Oh well, the music isn't *all* bad, just not to my liking. 106.7 lost it's place on my dial.

Though I think it's a good move for CC. I am the first one to admit that my radio tastes are very niche and I really expected this day to come sooner or later.

Interestingly (though probably in the thread), after all these years CC just now added a fourth Brew, in Oregon. It doesn't seem to be a song-for-song clone of any of the other three

Same with me.

106.7 sounds like it is becoming a clone of 103.9 The X in Dayton. That station was a great Alternative station until they mixed in the Active Rock. 106.7 is now one of those "Active/Alternative" hybrid stations unfortunately. :'(

Looks like 106.7 is fully converted to a Modern/Active leaning Alternative rock format. I heard new imaging on the way to work today. They were using "Radio 106.7, Columbus' Rock Alternative" with a much more rock sound to the liners. I just wonder why they waited for a year after 99.7 moved away from this format to switch.
