106.7 The River Debut Monday At 5pm

I Dont think Cox Radio would bring back a station like Z106 or 1067JAMZ...They had it right with Power 1067,but the sales team couldnt get it done! There is still room for a second Hip Hop station and the Bigs in Atlanta should know that! They had something with Power, but with shuffling jocks, making cuts with personel before Power got rolling, kind of hurt them and need to mention their "sales team" again! I mean I give credit to the other station who can sale 2 Live remotes in one night back to back...thats money right there! No matter how you sound or ppls opinions thats MONEY!!!

106.7 The River is nothing more than a decoy!!!...They know you radio heads would do your research and leak info on sites like this!..Cox radio has learned to use online networks like "facebook" this time around, which they did not allow in the past. Time to step up their promo & revamp their sales team... Get ready for the return of....Tune in @ 5pm!

It's entirely possible. Cox has also apparently registered 1067theroad.com. It seems like "The River" and "The Road" go along with the "Lost" them on the current website.

Once again I disagree with you.

Sure, I would also like to see a Hip Hop station emerge back on 106.7 but it just isn't going to happen.

You said they had it right with Power with the exception of the sales team. Well, sales is what makes stations stay instead of disappear. So there is no way it was "right" with such a big aspect missing. Bottom line, if Power was so great it would still be here and would be selling commercials.

That alone is reason enough to me on why I think we will not be seeing Power on Monday at 5pm.

There would be more of a chance of a 24 hour Lionel Richie station.

My opinion

My Point is the station sounded like it belonged in a bigger market than SA...hands down! It was that good...but when your sales team can't cut the mustard then there went Power! Competition kickd ass across the street...was it because is sounded better or because their "sales team" is that damn good!...What Im getting at is if they gave it another round and RE VAMPED the whole sales department...Power/talent etc. would still be here today!

Well that is a great argument. Who sounded better Power or 98.5?

I was just like everyone else and switched back and forth. However, Power played some records they had no business playing. A real Hip Hop true Urban station will not play Black Eyed Peas. Or maybe some of the other records that you could find on pop stations such as Mix 96.1 Also a LOT of people argued that they over edited their music.

Fact of the matter is, Cox Radio is not likely to come in and clean house in the sales dept just so they can bring it back. I'm sorry man but it just isn't going to happen. Doing that isn't practical.

Now if Cox did decide to bring it back revamped, new, and fresh at the end of the day it would still be with the same sales people. They aren't going to go well out of their way and fire sales employees (who most likely sell on other stations in the cluster as well) just so they can come back strong with a fresh set of heads ready to sell it. I am not saying that has never happened elsewhere but.... let's face it. 106.7 on the FM dial hasn't had an enormous amount of success to where they would want to throw that kind of time and money into it.

My opinion....

Traditional country on FM would make a nice combo with Y100. It worked for KVET in Austin when they started KASE. Of course, they were doing traditional country first and then added modern country. Their logic back then was, somebody's going to go after us so it might as well be us. And it's worked well for almost 30 years.

Jeanne Jackle posted some speculation that 106.7 may go in the Gen X direction playing grunge, alternative, and hip hop. Now that would be sweet.

For those of you interested in getting hired at 106.7....

Sorry, but the change will not create any openings.

Heard this from a reliable source.

I briefly spoke to Joel Denver from AllAccess and he also thinks they will be going the either the classic rock or classic hits route.

I have my timer set to record it from 4:53-5:53.

I don't see it being classic rock. You have KZEP, KONO, and Jack FM plays a lot of classic stuff, not 100%, but enough to serve a need. Gen X in Baton Rouge has been doing well, I could see that. The Point in Houston has been doing really well, and SA doesn't have a station that serves that need, so I could see that. But not Classic Rock.
