Find it hard to believe Infinity would do any kind of Churban or Urban at this point. Company hasn't launched one of those types of stations since re-launching the format in Austin about a year back. Infinity's not really been
chasing that end of the game since the days of Mel and Farid Suleman.

I guess if the station goes with something completely different the next thing we'll hear from you is a complaint that they should have gone CHR and put your favorite morning show on the air. It's one thing to predict, it's another to be a shill.

AH, rumor has it that they will go CHR and The doghouse will be the new morning show, I am just qouting what G-Bliss said in an earlier post......part of this board IS predictions, maybe that way SF bay area radio will greatly improve and keep people like you employed. That's why I'm moving to LAS VEGAS to get away from this "so-called" top 5 radio market.

Am employed... thanks. Good luck in Vegas.

You mean Hot Hits? KITS? Before it became Live 105?

May I ask when/where was this announced, about 106.9 changing owners? I'm just a curious radio-loving listener. Thanks a lot!

And i personally hope it's top 40. Top 40 is such a big market, but no one is covering that in the San Francisco bay area. Wild 94.9 is not really a top 40 station, but they try to be by playing kelly clarkson and maroon 5, but that's not quite it.

Anyone heard the rumours that it will be CHR (sorta) like the old Hot 97 and that Jazzy Jim Archer (formerly APD/MD of Wild 94.9, also formerly of hot 97) will be coming back to run it? No? ok... just checking....

No, I mean Hot 105. I was never sure where they broadcasted from in the bay. But, it was sometime in the late 90's. It was very hard to get a clear signal and they used the same guy's voice who did the drops for kmel and hot 977. it must have been a pirate station. kind of like 102.7 Da Bomb, back in 2001. hopefully you remember that one.
Edited by Brangeno on 08/27/05 12:03 PM.

Answer about Hot 105 (104.7 KHTN)

>Wrong! It was not a pirate station!
Hot 105 was 104.7 and is still in the Los Banos, Merced, Modesto area and had and still has a very good signal. The calls today are KHTN I believe! The original call sign for 92.1 in Placerville which is now KXCL Flash 92.1.

Here is the danger for all of you who insist on posting your speculations using phrasing that hints you have some kind of inside information.

When whatever does happen launches, everyone who didn't "predict" correctly no longer have credibility ... they destroy it by being so eager to show how much they "know".

I've seen it happen on a number of the boards many times before. It happens about once a month on the L.A. board, it's happening a lot on the S.D. board, and it's happened twice in the past six weeks on the Sacramento board.

If you want long term cred, think long and hard before you predict that something is going to happen. Your posts don't suddenly disappear from the boards when you're wrong.
______________

KHTN (104.7 FM) has been an urban-leaning CHR since the early 1990s or so. It is licensed to the Los Banos/Merced area. It's no pirate, that's for sure.

Prior to the early 1990s, the station had the call letters KSNN, and was known as "Kissin' 105." It ran the Satellite Music Network's Adult Contemporary format. That format was in place from May 1982 until its demise in the early 1990s.

The station signed on around 1979 or 1980 as KLBS-FM. The station was initially known as K-105 ("Music Alive....K-105"), and ran a free-form Progressive Rock format. I still have the bumper stickers and advertising material Mike Mc Adam sent me (he was one of the station's owners). It was an awesome station. As a teen, I connected an antenna to my stereo just to pick up the station from Sacramento. KZAP and its "Superstars" format didn't do the trick for me. : )

I remember it well! The Star Station it was on KHTN 92.1 Placerville in the beginning also.

Do you remember KSRT 100.9 from Tracy, CA.? It was a rock station too in its early days!

I've heard about it and researched it, but I never listened to it. I'd love to hear an aircheck. I believe KSRT ran a Progressive Rock format in the early and middle 1970s. I believe it flipped to Adult Contemporary around 1978 or 1979. Hopefully someone on this board can provide some additional information on KSRT and its Progressive Rock format. KSRT's 3,000 watt signal didn't reach Sacramento, and I was damn content listening to KSFM (with its Progressive Rock format).

By the time KSRT flipped to AC, Pete Pappas was running automated AOR on 50,000 watt KHOP ("Rock 104"). It wasn't too bad for an automated AOR. KHOP went live in November 1979, but it took on a Top 40 slant, complete with screaming air talent. K-105 out of Los Banos debuted shortly thereafter.

Yeah! We need our country back! Let both 97.3 & 106.9 bite the dust! Try a CHR-pop on Alice, and bring back the country to 106.9! Maybe an active rocker may help.
