106.9 WCCC Rules!

I can't even tolerate NYC radio anymore.
Its to the point that when I get up towards Hartford CT that I am an "excited puppy" to get good rock music on 106.9 and WLZX lazer 99.3
thoughts?

Why the excitement? You obviously have internet access.
They stream.
Just calm down and listen online. ;)

sometimes I do however, without the 128kbps+
It is totally different, Bad audio quality I think its a 40kbps or so stream, Can;t really make a request, can't win contests, a lot of times they will cut out of whats on the FM for their own thing on a stream during add etc. a lot of times there is dead air during that and sometimes the DJ forgets the switch the internet stream back to what is on the FM Dial. It makes me not want to listen and it is no where near the regular radio experience.

Why not go up there every weekend and record ?Then you can play it back .Or just move .
I wish I could get WKZQ 101.7 Myrtle beach since NYC radio is crap for the exception of 101.9 RXP who dares to be different.
Some stations stream in 128K but not most.Oh well.

Uhg... I've ignored your juvenile love of active rock long enough. I was fortunate enough to spend four years in the earlier part of the decade in the Pioneer Valley, beautiful place with wnderful people. Unfortunately, the Valley is surrounded on all sides by retards who have nothing better to do than drive around in their truck listening to the same four motley crue songs over and over and over. I HATED THE RADIO IN THE VALLEY. WCCC and fatboy Picozzi were like awful, angry, childish. Awful station with terrible music selection, although in their defense their cacophony was always current. WLZX, on the other hand, seemed to believe that the only two records released after 1988 were "Youth of the Nation" and "The Sickness." Just awful, WLZX, how many more times do you really need to hear "Kickstart My Heart" or "Crazytrain?"

The scary part is, the further you go from Boston, the more popular this music seems to be, at least with program directors. Active rock is just noise, and I'm convinced no one in an urban environment likes it, mostly because it appeals to the same demographic (teenage males) that hip-hop does. And hip-hop is an urban format. That's why Power 104.1 came about. But wait, there just aren't enough knuckleheads out ther to support either two a active rock or hip-hop stations so Power 104.1 became alternative. A format that appeals to educated males with disposable incomes.

Please tak your CCC posts back to the lardo Picozzi hartford/springfield board.

Brooklyndon,
with all due respect,
Let me know when your shares in radio are worth .00001$ a share..
I have noticed the majority of good radio is off the stock market.
Nj Gets WDHA, WRAT, and WSOU. this area of CT gets NOTHING!
I'm on the island of Overplayed adult contemporary, classic rock and rock n roll in this area....
I liked k-rock always did like k-rock even had an anxiety attack when they came back I... S%*$! you not! but now its ZZZ ZZZ lets play the doors for the 100th time today they are pushing all classic rock.

As much as some of us may not LIKE the programming/music selections on 'CCC, along with the bone-head personalities on the station, there is no denying that the station does a good job in serving the Active Rock audience. They play plenty of currents and only dip into classic rock occasionally (the same can't be said for any "Rock" station in NYC).

Brooklyndon, I think you best be tuning into internet radio because I think we have similar tastes and there is no way a radio station will be serving us around these parts anytime soon.

WCCC is AWFUL!!!
Jamie, try listening to WMMR, WLUP, WXTB online. They are all MUCH better rock stations. 106.9 is a wasted frequency.

What NYC rockers? I thought that was the whole point of the OP's thread.

yeah octane is quite good, but to come on here and say I-95 rocks, well that just made me throw up in my mouth just alittle. I have to agree with Neo11 on this, "what NYC rock?", its non existence, 92.3 is a waste of a frequency with a washed up middle aged voice over that makes it thinks its going to rock. Personally I prefer 106.9 WCCC, or 104.1 or if were talking REAL ROCK, 93.5 WZBH The Beach in DE. Generally I wish RXP would wake up go the course of RFF in Philly or FM 104.1 in hartford, just plain alternative, i think it would get numbers, but now i can't seem to keep them on for more than one song. The other night I was quite suprised to hear them play alice in chains rooster, but then they went into Rod stewart maggie may! com'on already! what is this "Jack Rock"?

Jamie, why not do what a lot of Dance fans do - listen to the music you love online? You say you don't like stations that stream at lower bitrates. Well, if you're passionate enough then find Rock stations that DO webcast at 128 Kbps or above. You als mentioned making requests and such, well some of the virtual/net-only Rock stations prolly take your requests (if they fit the format and are reasonable).

What? Suddenly you havent heard of websites like shoutcast? Go there, type in the word Metal in the Search engine, and you'll come across a hundred stations or so.

You think The Loop in Chicago is a great station? ROTFLMAO

They are the archetypal consultant-driven, cookie-cutter heritage rock station. They burn their songs to a crisp, brought back that has-been Johnny B to do morning drive, and have a playlist that, at times, is almost as predictable as K-Rock's. Great station, I guess, if you enjoy hearing the same 50 - 70 songs from the 80's played to death. The station targets factory rats.

98Rock (WXTB) in Tampa is a decent station but nothing special. It was much better 10 years ago.

WMMR gets great ratings, but that's mainly because the station has a hot morning show, and WYSP has been mismanaged for the better part of 5 years. WMMR is definitely more listenable than K-Rock, but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen.
