ELBC decided to hurry up the switch to "Boom!" one week, and will presumably launch either today or tomorrow. idk if it will temporarily be jock-less until the original launch date of January 4th, or if Mike Kessler will crack open the mic at 5:30AM. Either way, Mark Ribbins will be the exclusive DJ for WNWV-HD2 starting today.

Thanks for the info, I look forward to hearing the new format. I don't think I can stay awake till 5:30 am if they do start the AAA format then. Sorry people, but the smooth jazz just puts me to sleep. Guess the ticking on HD1 is the prelude to the big BOOM coming!

If they played the good songs they should have played, then the format would have worked and it probably wouldn't have put you to sleep either.

While I certainly wish the new format and some folks I know who work there all the sucess they can get, I will really miss the old NAC/SJ format.

WNWV was by no means an exciting version of the format (IMHO, sorry guys)....it was the only station we had on the radio in the area in the format.

KTWV in LA, KWJZ in Seattle, and KIFM in San Diego are far more interesting, and....believe it or not, NOT overly sleepy. But, that's programming skill and music selection, rotations, and blending.

But...it sure appears the format is pretty much dead....or not far from it. Sad, very sad. It was the only new music format that had much of interest to me. I guess I'm too old of a baby boomer. :)
