107.9 bidders ID'd for auction 106

The majority of Entravisions properties are Spanish, Fuego, and a few brokered AMs. Odd why they would bring back country and put on a Class A that’s forever been an urban type format.

Iheart gets 107.9 FM

After falling second to iHeartMedia for the 107.9 Sacramento bid, Educational Media Foundation came away with just a Class A on 103.3 Shelter Island NY covering the east end of Long Island for a $88,000 bid. Maria Guel’s Mekaddesh Group Corporation won the most allocations netting seven signals in Texas including the 101.5 Crystal Beach/Galveston TX that Cumulus Media surrendered in 2015 after the former KSTB was destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008.

Ironic that the price the FCC got for 107.9 is about the same as what Stolz's 3 FMs sold for.

I'm sure the group who challenged Entercom for the license would have preferred a local owner. Now they have the opposite.
You're speaking of Sue Wilson and the Media action center, who goes after conservative media. iHeart has a few shows on her list...

My 2 cent speculation for iHeart and 107.9:

1. Move The Bull over from 107.1 (prob unlikely with recent Entravision flip)
2. Sports (iHM favors Fox Sports Network on their stations, maybe pick up Giants baseball as an alternate to KNBR listening)
3. Oldies / Classic Hits

Only talk. If you were in Northern California, the only other possibility is KSTE 650 from Sacramento. That’s where the show originates, and it throws a decent signal toward the Bay Area.

I’ll go with number three over the first two.

They successfully clear Bobby Bones on the translator and I just don’t see sports on FM in this market. But then, who knows .

If CHR were stronger now and it’s not, I’d love to see them to stick it to Audacy and launch “107-9, Were back and better than ever…”. Lol

I’m guessing The Bull moving towards 107.9. Just look at KNCI 105.1 ratings. Even country is on 103.5fm. I won’t make a dent in the ratings because 103.5 doesn’t goes out to the suburb and that’s where most of the listeners are located. Also 103.5 is a satellite feed and doesn’t have local programming at all.

I think the biggest amount of money to be had is #1.

103.5 is not gonna be much competition for KNCI... country on 107.9 will be a bit more expensive to do then straight up sports.. but easier. It's a pain in the ass to program a sports station.

correct, as has been stated.. 103.5 is running westwood ones real country satellite feed

And Classic Country doesn’t get numbers. The one in Bakersfield (the country capital of California) has been running that format via satellite for more than two decades and gets less than a one share.

It’s hard to take on an established Country station, especially one with a strong following.

They failed going after KNCI the first time. Country listeners pick a station and don’t move.

I know.. im a country radio DJ. But.. theres more money in country than just about anything else.

I agree, but there's still a lot of money to be made as #2. They're close to a 1 share with a translator. There's room.

I don't think it'll be classic country. They'll go full tilt hot new country.

The iHeart cluster is a bit old now. Classic Hits just adds more old people. It's either country or CHR.

Everybody: Is the The definitive answer to put The Bull fulltime on 107.9? Easy Easy Easy!!! Then put "Real Classic Hits" on 93.7 HD-2 and on the Translator at 107.1 And also on 107.9 HD-2. The reality is, I bet, that KFBK Will be moved to 107.9 and KSTE Will be moved to 93.1! And that the BULL stays right where it is already. While we get no Classic Hits at all. My 2 cents......
