It was only known because they did a rather large ad for the new "Eve"...but then in typical Northeast fashion....never ran another one. They will change formats agains in 7-10 months.

I saw full page ads again this week. Two weeks in a row...breaking out the bucks.

T-R-A-D-E

The only other station I know of with the women's talk lineup is right here where I am in Beverly, MA:
WNSH AM 1570. They also run conservative talkers Laura Ingraham, Jerry Doyle, and Michael Reagan

http://www.wnsh.com

not sure what success they have. weak signal.

You can fine "Dead Air America" on XM Radio, then you can go anywhere and not worry about finding DDA on terrestrial radio.

Radio and Records says that Greenstone Media, which had trouble getting affiliates, may be shutting
its doors soon (perhaps by Aug 17). If so then expect WTWK to try another format (they have been
running "women's radio" as Eve 1070 with hosts from that syndicator)...oldies? sports? classic country?
whatever it is, I'd expect it to be "computer in a closet radio"...

If the rumor is correct and Aug 17 is the day, then it'll be 5 months from the very day of that post :)

"Dead Air America" seems to be on borrowed time as well. Northeast probably can make some money with the station as 'time brokered religious programming', then they don;t have to worry about the commercials as much.. Nothing to lose.

Well you already have it on 1390 (and 1420 in St. A, and 1490 in Middlebury, and I think somewhere
in Mont. too, right...WSNO?)--why put it (ESPN) on 1070 as well? However if Sporting News or
Fox Sports needs an affiliate...

...dare I suggest the owners of WTWK talk to Entercom about a WEEI simulcast? Only prob would be
that 'TWK is a daytimer...

Keep it on after sunset, CBA- 1070 in Moncton NB is going to sign off for good, and go to FM eventually. Just kidding. Fox Sports is on the CC stations. How about Bloomberg Business Radio on 1070 ?

Raccoon... let's think about your suggestion for a moment. You think NEB, should call Entercom, to make WTWK a WEEI simulcast? Steven is an idiot, fine. But he's not stupid enough to bring in a station (WEEI) that would DIRECTLY COMPETE with 3 other properties, 2 of which are in the Champlain Valley. (The other being WSKI in Mont., not WSNO)

ah OK, good points.. but we have said here that WEEI simulcasts could do fine...even for just the people
vacationing up in ChampValley who still want to hear the 'EEI talk shows! (For Sox, of course, there's 'JOY).

Racoon... sorry to be picking on you, but, people who vacation dont bring there books, and they certainly dont log their vacation listening. Never plan radio around people who dont live where your stick is. (This includes college kids, a common problem among Burlington programmers. No legal residence, ie dorms, no book. College kids, for the most part, simply dont matter.) If NEB wanted EEI, they'd have done it on their ESPN's. Why haven't they? Silberberg is cheap and the barter is easy with ESPN. WEEI, cash is involved.

As for Disney... Not a bad choice! NEB clearly has had a long-term affiliate relationship with ABC (who I think Bob Rowe worked for before NEB) and wouldnt be the most illogical choice. You wont take a ton of market share from X, but you might be able to get a bit more than KISS-FM did...

Well, I'm not talking ratings here--I'm talking about people from the Boston area who wouldn't mind hearing
some form of WEEI while up there. (Kind of like how we talk about how we'd all love to program an
oldies station--talking about it as radio fans --or fans of talk, or music, rather than looking at it like a business.)
We talked about it earlier, as Jason Wolfe's manifest destiny plans
(when he wasn't screwing up 'RKO's lineup) led to a new WEEI simulcast in Western Mass. Today
New England, tomorrow the world!

>>they certainly dont log their vacation listening.

true

>>WEEI, cash is involved.

"And they gotta pay cash, which is almost as good as money" :) (that AFLAC ad!)

Yeah, maybe Radio Di$ney would work...

I'd expect that more of Disney's listenership would come from the mothers of 6-12 year olds who listen to Star 92.9, not the 13-year olds who listen to the X. I believe that when one reaches puberty, they want to hear Kanye next to Avril, not Aaron Carter. ;D

As for placing Disney on a daytimer, to quote Jack James (who wrote "The PD Chronicles" for All Access): "Studies show that Radio Disney has no listeners between 8 AM and 3 PM because...HELLO?...kids are in school." Half of the target audience (the other half being their moms who listen with their kids) in B-P would get to listen for 1-2 hours in the winter after school!

My suggestion would be for it to go straight news. Is AP still offering their long-term news format? They would only need to fill with some local wire-read copy. If not AP then sure that someone offers a long-form news product out there. Also, they might try religious. That can solve programming and sales problems. Many national shows pay local religious stations $$$ to run their shows in 30 or 60 minute blocks.

Ethnic leased time programming. Like religious it would solve programming and sales. The Burlington area has a growing foreign population with really no voice. There is a market for it.
