As far as I know, there is no farm network affiliation on WFNI - but I think WIBC is still a part of the Brownfield network...

Thanx, Southport!Southport_road said:You were listening to 1070 WFNI. Sounded like a dual feed of Brownfield over Mike & Mike...somebody probably forgot to bring down the pot after the IU coaches show last night. Brownfield is feed over the same satellite channel that Learfield uses for IU programming.
And technology from 15 years ago could be set up to force all audio channels off at the top of every hour except for one.bigtime said:Technology marches on.

Maybe they were trying to copy the digital tv channels with "Mike and Mike" on 1070.1 and Brownfield Ag Network on 1070.2??snorlax said:Thanx, Southport!Southport_road said:You were listening to 1070 WFNI. I knew it was some kind of double-feed--I couldn't hear it well enough--but it just strikes me as odd that there is so little oversight, especially since a station executive was attentive enough to post here on the topic. I'll have to see when I made the original post... July 20, 2008.
You've gotta wonder about a radio company who doesn't listen to their own stations, or has anyone manning a phone to take a call from a listener saying, "hey, something's wrong here", Are we to a point where no one is listening? Might be a point where you would make money by turning off the signal!Southport_road said:You were listening to 1070 WFNI. Aye, sad it is.
My "day job" is in education...I spend the better part of my often-frustrating day trying to make my students CARE about the work they do. I keep advising my students that the "real world" will not tolerate carelessness and CONSTANT repetition of the same mistakes, especially when those mistakes have been brought to their attention on several occasions.
I guess that's incorrect advice these days...
Sour old man Snorlax.
It is sad indeed, but in case anyone here is not currently working at radio or TV station, the time when every studio was manned 24/7 with at least a minimum wage board op or jock has long since past. In many cases, there is not a single person in the entire building overnights anymore, and mostly even on weekends unless there is some sporting event or other live programming on the air that can't be automated.KyDXIn said:You've gotta wonder about a radio company who doesn't listen to their own stations, or has anyone manning a phone to take a call from a listener saying, "hey, something's wrong here", Are we to a point where no one is listening? So to answer your question, no, not only are there no staff members listening in the station, no staff members are listening outside of the station either. In fact, it's getting to the point where employees are getting cut left and right, and the ones remaining have such low morale they don't listen and don't really care-and if they do still care, they're too busy doing 4 or 5 other jobs at the station to be able to take care of one more.
