Just read that Salem is LMAing the station and will be launching business talk on it Monday... Wow...

Wonder if that means that Dan Frishberg -formerly of BizRadio - now under investigation by the SEC will be featured as he is in Miami, Atlanta and other metro locations?

Are those stations owned by Salem? I thought he was off the Houston station.

Business talk ... the most exciting format in radio since all-ads KADS ...

In 1966, Gordon McLendon bought KGLA(FM), Los Angeles and changed the calls to KADS(FM), running only commercials: local ads, commercials and national commercials.. It was targeted to grab business from the newspapers. The want ads were either their own voices into a telephone recording device or they could use professional announcers.

In August 1967, McLendon declared it to be a failure; returns to "regular programming". The decision was made to change call signs to KOST-FM and play "beautiful music."

Boy, people announcing their own want ads over a telephone line must have been almost as exciting as lost dog reports.

And since it was on FM, the high-fidelity only enhanced this innovative format.

Gordon must have had a couple of bottles of bourbon to think of this brilliant idea.

I disagree. Business talk, done right, can be good. This demo out to do one thing: MAKE MONEY!

Now of course most of the day traders and other investers are probably at home glued to their computers running CNBC in the background (like I am) or running it on their iPhones while out at lunch. I have Sirius/XM and can listen to CNBC while in the car. I caught Cramer at a rest stop in Arkansas of all things.

Salem is running Bloomberg at night. They kept Ray Lucia on 1160 and he has a great following. Looking forward to see what weekend programing will be like. I haven't had a chance to hear a whole program day yet. I am assuming the sports part will probably be the weekends.

Or knowing Salem, brokered programs all weekend long and repeats of weekday shows at night.

Care to re-state that, or tell us exactly what it was he was caught doing at this rest stop?

As a former producer for KVCE until last Friday, I can tell you that sports has, as of this time, become a daily segment - every evening, Monday through Friday, from 8-10pm central - it's called "Inside the Game - Chalk Talk with the Pro's"

@ Mike: I was taking a rest from driving down I-30 and drinking a Starbucks on my way to hot Springs to see Doc you cheeky buggar! ;D

@ Pro: any idea what KVCE will have on weekends? especially the 6p-12a slots?

GBH...I have no idea what their weekend programming will be - you can always check out their website kvceradio.com and see what it shows - I haven't bothered to look as it doesn't interest me in the slightest.
