When WNRK had Jose on Saturday mornings, then later Friday afternoons, the music was more of a mix. Mexican, Puerto Rican, Dominican, etc. He tried to please a broader base. I do not understand the difference, but being from Puerto Rico, he did, of course. And he had a good client base and brought in a lot of money for his three hour show.
WNWK appears to be going after the Mexican audience primarily. And that makes sense as the majority of the Spanish speaking population in this area seems to be from Mexico.
That raises a question. Should CC have gone that route with 1290? They tried FM in Philadelphia, that did not work, so they put the music on 1480, changing the calls from WDAS-AM to WUBA, and added the Phillies in Spanish. What if CC had put Hispanic music on WJBR-AM rather than going sports with the disaster that is now WWTX? In hindsight, it would have been a more profitable move.
