October 3rd. Talk radio 1340 becomes spanish sports talk.

Way to go, Dickie. Another astonishing, come from behind master stroke.

Where will Imus go now?

Prediction

Hmmmm. Is this the same David Dickey who hired restaurant employees to host talk shows? The same David Dickey who refused to hire a program director for 680 The Fan because he wanted to "save money"?

Here's the ironic part: The spanish sportstalk station will probably get higher ratings than the .7 Dickey keeps getting on 680 The Fan.

Word is that 1340 and 1230 (which currently simulcast) will split, with all of 1340's current programming staying on 1230.
______________

Maybe for contractual reasons they have to keep some of the same programming in the market on 1230. But the 1230 transmitter is directly behind an aparment complex that is mostly Mexican.

Seems like a great opportunity. (sarcasm)

But that move will restrict much of that station's audience to Cobb County. In fact, how about if Dickey just sell both stations. Maybe Dickey should sell 1230 to the same company that owns WNNG in Warner Robins, and have that station focus on Cobb County, with a heavy emphasis on local news, sports, and weather, as well as just the right amount of music.
Edited by radionut987 on 09/13/05 08:33 PM.

Naw, that makes too much sense. David Dickie doesn't have it in him to make that kind of thoughtful decision.
A better idea would be to move O'Reilly and the lot all on 1340/1230, and hiring a pm drive talk host~ and pay them jack, (which is what anyone who's ever hosted a show on that freq ever got)Make it ALL talk, not split with sports..Then take some of the jocksniffin' rejects and plug in 2 local live shows from 10-3 pm, and actually try to compete with 790. I'm sure that the "HERD" and "O'Reilly" cant be that expensive, so paying some mid day flunkies actually would make $ense. Chuck Oliver with a good co host would be a workable idea, if he's not locked up w/790.
But, I'm sure DD will run from any real challenge or success like it was a blonde CNN anchor. Typical of this family. Sad.
