What specifically has happened today or this week to prompt your comment? I know it's the end of the year, but I wouldn't mourn the station just yet based on a comment made weeks ago in a newspaper article.
Since I cannot receive the signal at night, I just now pulled up the online feed. This brings about a few comments:
The pop-up player has a station logo I know **I've** never seen before. Much better than the one that's been on the website, and much more appropriate for what the format has been. Good choice of color, and easy-to-read typeface. Most importantly, the frequency is most prominent. Why am I just **now** seeing this logo?
The pop-up player keeps bringing itself up to the top of the screen-- even as I'm typing this. How obnoxious. I've already had to re-minimize it several times, as it totally interrupts what I'm doing. Who would put up with this? That's a deal-breaker.
The website **still** has the banner with the artists from the short-lived Martini format. Queen Latifah?
The on-air branding ("imaging" as it's called today) doesn't really "work" with the format. Something just doesn't sound right hearing lasers and swooshes going into a Roger Whittaker record.
The music mix is pretty good. There are some oldies played during the week that don't quite fit, in my opinion. But overall, a very enjoyable set of selections.
The personality on right now (he hasn't given his name!) has a very nice voice. I'm usually rather critical of voices, but this fellow (who sounds kind of young-- and that's okay) has the perfect one for the format. He's a bit more upbeat/Hot-AC-ish that I'd be, but for the most part he's pretty good. But what's his name?
If this station's days are indeed numbered-- and I have no doubt they are-- it's still a shame. This has been one of the only terrestrial music stations I've listened to with any regularity in the last few years.
