OBVEOUSLY THEY DIDN'T TAKE MY ADVICE ON THE NEW JUGGERNAUT OF SWING MUSIC. WHY NOT??? I'M HEARING CAT STEVENS WHO IS NOT A SWINGIN' CAT BUT ALQUEDA. LOOKS LIKE THE COMMUNITY WON'T BE SHARING IN THE JOYS OF MODERN SWING IT SO NEEDS. MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY'S WILDFIRE JUST PLAYED. YOU CAN'T FEED A DEAD HORSE!!! THE SLOWER THE SONG THE SLOWER THE COMMUNITY!!!!!! THIS VACATION REGION WILL NOW MISS OUT ON FABULOUS ULTRA UPTEMPOBANDS LIKE SQUIRREL NUT ZIPPERS, RICHARD CHEESE, THE VULTURES & THE LIKES OF THE CHERRY POPPIN DADDIES -AND SINCE WHEN IS THE JETTS YOU GOT IT ALL 60S & 70S GOLD? THAT JUST POPPED ONTO THEIR MALFUNCTIONING ABC FEED. OFF GOES MY RADIO & ON GOES MY BRIAN SETZER "WOLFGANG'S BIG NIGHT OUT" ALBUM. I did give a bit of a listen this morning. WLEC still has Mark Fogg on the air. Back to his old 6a-10a perch. CBS Radio was axed for ABC News (of which the Timeless Favorites channel supplies) - just how long was WLEC a CBS affiliate, BTW? Steve Schoffner's still there, and the newscasts still sound okay. The only misfire I heard was a "SportsRadio Sandusky" legal TOH ID at 8am, promoting Jim Rome's show that will never be heard on 1450 ever again.
Give BAS credit on a few things. The new WLEC at least has a good jingle set, and is still local in the morning. Hopefully they will try to make the liners match up with the ABC/Citadel jocks, cause Fogg and Steve may be the lone local links there for quite a while.
Oh, and a comment. Look... there's no way that a standards format of which you seek, King, will ever come on the air. Let alone by a satellite channel. ABC had to merge two different formats - standards and beautiful music - together in order to stave off the accelerating demos. The current WLEC has no resemblance to the station prior to September 2006. Nor will it ever. It can't happen...

Look for WLEC to soon add "American Standards by the Sea", a 2 hour syndicated show from Dick Robinson, who used to own 16 Connecticut Schools of Broadcasting before selling them a few years ago.

American Standards by the Sea was also on WRMR on Saturday nights during its second incarnation at 1420. I agree... it's a great show.

Is Todd's Diner is Castalia still open? I think Roman Foxx owned that at one time.

Todd's Diner is still open but it's not as hip as that quaint little bar at the bay where all of the sailors go. Todd's plays Sheryl Crow exclusively now (didn't know she had so many songs!) - but she's hot. She's got that southern California sound. Has anyone heard what former newsman Eric Fox is up to? Last I heard he was looking into a career in law enforcement. Also to the King of Mitiwanga, glad to see there's still someone out there with a decent sense of music, but I personally would like some Cat Stevens, or maybe Enya, the new Enya. Another oddity, does anyone actually know what happened to Jerry Shirley and where he is located? I am a bit all over the board tonight - plenty of Red Bull and have been blowin on the horns tonight to make a comeback in the music industry. :
