1530 Low Modulation

#1. I didn't quote any Arbitron numbers. I gave you a vague range from which to deduce.
#2. I am not "probably wrong, anyways." Last year WQRT had a 0.4 share when Arbitron still allowed non-subscriber numbers to be published. You also had Deters, Ramsey, and Furman then. I saw some of the afternoon combined numbers with Ramsey and Furman and they were respectable. But even then, your weekly cume was in the 30s. I don't think it's really out of the question to think those numbers haven't budged, especially given the popularity of Ramsey, who is now at WKRC.
#3. We can disagree on what is a good radio interview. All I know is that when the interviewer really has nothing to add other than to talk abbout his 12:30 AM TV show, and the interviewee just starts giving out information for his club appearance because there's uncomfortable silence, I would call that a bad interview. Pollak also joked about the lack of phone calls. Dean said the phone was broke. (Not "broken." He said "broke.") On a side note, a friend who works third shift used to listen to Deters on his way home in the morning. He went to 1160 out of force of habit, and heard the interview. He said it was the worst thing he'd ever heard and he had no idea who this Dean guy was.

someone told me that they saw cumes much higher than what you're quoting.... We never missed Furman. Ingraham is pretty strong, IMO.
Dean did well on Warm. He'll outperform Deters. BTW, we are in talks with Arbitron about a multi station deal. Hopefully, this will make having the Cincy numbers affordable.

I'm not able to pick up a strong enough signal from 1360 WSAI but last time a was in range they were still running IBOC. 55KRC never did run IBOC.
I heard at one time that 55KRC's antenna system wasn't broadband enough to pass all the IBOC hiss...I'm developing a newfound appreciation for narrow band antenna systems.

Perfect observation, Bob. My former C. E. now works for Clear Channel. I visited with him a year ago and asked WHY three-quarters of the C.C. stable in Cincy were airing "i-trash", but NOT 550 WKRC?
His response: "The D.A. [antenna system] is a 'notch-master' and won't flatter IBOC." THANK GOODNESS for old coils!!! :D

Those coils aren't THAT old hippo! I was there the day that facility signed on in June 1975 (and stayed there until the FCC had enough data on hand to bless operation via remote control). It sounded mighty fine in the pre NRSC days but thankfully not fine enough for IBOC. I always assumed that part of the narrowness was due to the tower heights that were well below 1/4 wave. Before joining WKRC, I was the $3/hr CE at WNOP. Even though WKRC could only promise 12 months (turned out to be 15), that offer of $325/week and having a legendary set of calls on my resume was too much for this then 22 year old to let pass by. Never regretted that decision.

The coils may not be prehistoric, Bob, but according to your recollection—the towers are emasculated in electrical height; and that is a curse at 550 kHz. "Good" AMs I have heard have NO-LESS than a 90-degree stick and what is required at the base – anything less is a huge compromise. Add 55KRC's directional duty, and one can easily discern why IBOC won't fly ;)
Give me an-above quarter-wave stick, a lovingly-constructed ATU, an B.E. rig, and Omnia proc – and we can make beautiful fully-modulated MUSIC on the AM radio band – 'kinda like 1580 WIFE Connersville ;) 'Guess you can relate :)
