I was listening from 5 to 5:30 this afternoon and heard the announcement. This is huge news. 93.9 & 1450 vs. 101.7 & 790!

finally, a fair competition between a format with two different companies. the way i see it, its going to come down to whether or not the local talent can overcome the other. i think that fox sports radio is miles better than espn radio but the local talent may be on the same level. i honestly can't say because i literally can't pick up either 1570 or 1600 all that well on my hd radio or in my car.
if wkrd starts slipping, on the fm side especially, might we see a change of broadcast towers or possibly a strengthened signal? that crap that cc passes that 101.7 has full coverage of the area is crap. my stronger radios can't pick up that station at all on some days and i'm in the eastern part of the county.

(when WKRD) "starts slipping on the FM side"? They don't even have a city-grade signal in the Louisville market and they know it. Besides, it'll be gone soon anyway, when CC goes private. It's probably only simulcast with 790 AM for convenience sake.
And, fyi: few people in or out of the industry believe Fox Sports is better than ESPN Radio in any way.

When is 1450AM changing to Sports? I thought the change was planned for January 21st. They are still playing Country music.

Legal IDs air at the top of the hour "WWSZ New Albany. WTSZ Eminence". That's their legal ID. You may be thinking of their network rejoin liners. All of those were removed because they were promos of shows no longer airing on the stations.

I never particularly cared for the delivery and style those guys had. Zack's "uhs" and "ahs" drove me nuts. I didn't listen to them on AM and I probably won't listen to them on FM either.

This big announcement said that I could still hear Mike&Mike in the morning on 1450 AM, but as of this morning, I'm still hearing country music on that station.

101.7 has such a weak signal, I cant even pick it up in dowtown on a GE super radio. It gets squashed out by 101.3 and 102.3. 101.7 will never be able to compete in the Jefferson County market. They should have never moved the stick out of Jeffersontown. Doesnt 101.7 simulcast THE FOX out in Shelbyville? Thats all 101.7 is good for is to simulcast a weak station that doesnt make it out east. They need to just use 101.7 for a Shelbyville station, it doesnt have a usable signal in THE Ville. :

No. It is simulcast from 790am. Maybe they should have left it Spanish music to serve the population out in Shelby Co.
