Based on what you've said about the signal, I'm not sure what good KRBL would be. Is there any chance of having that signal moved south? What is protecting?

While moving south would help a little, it's still not going to be too viable unless it also moves a little west. As for what it's protecting, that would be 105.3. Those two are about as close together as they can be under the current FCC rules. So, it's not likely it can be moved much further south without moving it farther east, too, which would make it even less viable.

Just for fun, let's suppose that 105.7 and 105.3 had the same owner. One of them could be made silent to allow the other more coverage. Which would be better to close, .7 or .3? Or is it an even toss up?

They actually did. Well, not exactly. They had different owners, but were run by the same folks. It was my understanding that Paul Beane owned 105.3 in Levelland and another signal in Littlefield. I don't remember what happened to Littlefield. Ramsey continued to own 105.7 and Paul ran both and simulcast 105.7 on 105.3. Levelland was a rimshot into Western Lubbock while 105.7 was a rimshot into eastern Lubbock. Neither really covered Lubbock all that well, but I think 105.3 out of Levelland had the better signal.

In your scenario, I'd go with 105.3 out of Levelland simply because it covers more population. Given the difficulty of finding new frequencies that are available, I suspect 105.7 wouldn't go dark- it's too valuable. Moving either one to another frequency would probably be a better solution, although I'm not sure what options either would have right now.
