2 Stews to PM drive (Atlanta sports radio mediocre to mush)

There is no way that anyone with an objective eye cannot be honest enough to admit that part of the appeal of the 2LS tandem is in the fact that they are black guys. This is a fact and it is a huge reason why I don't expect them to carry the same weight in afternoons as in their former spot. There is the issue of being able to relate to an audience and I think they'll miss the boat in this area. They have a hip hop style of sports radio that I personally find unlistenable. Name for me one black talk radio "star" in this country in any format. Okay now stop thinking because not one exists. Sure a Ken Hamblin comes around once in a while but even a guy like him isn't a star by any means. To suggest that they'll "dominate" B&K is asinine. They won't beat B&K particularly during football season when B&K will positively trounce the 2LS team. As I claimed in a previous message I think these two guys are a fad that will eventually fade. In fact I think B&K and the entire 680 organization is doing cartwheels over the announcment of 2LS going to afternoons. 2LS would be much more suited to doing the guy talk show they do on an FM hot talk formated station and not a sports radio set up. The hood thing gets old real quick and these guys aren't talented enough nor creative enough or knowledgable enugh to hold down the fort with radio that will allow them to succeed in afternoon drive time. They are the ultimate backup quarterback looking good in small doses but who will be exposed greatly with increased playing time. 2LS is an overhyped program that was made famous by an SI article that didn't do justice to how mediocre their show truly is. A passing fad at best and a move back to a less high profile time slot at the worst after they fail to capture afternoons as their apologists would have many believe. The best thing 2LS has going for them is in the fact that they are a couple of black guys. If they were any other color they wouldn't even be on the air. A passing fad that will fade and B&K will kill these guys in the arbitrons. Boo-yah that.

No hatred X just the facts. Go ahead and pound your chest for 2LS but do so knowing they are a passing fad with an urban hip hop style that will drown itself out now that the white hot light of afternoon radio is upon them. My feeling is that these guys better be careful for what they have wished for and now received. They are average talk talents hyped to make them appear to be superstar material when in reality they have a limited upside. On a station with an awful group of other alleged talents they are not even the best of a bad bunch. Leave the racial agenda outside next time too. Its hollow and weak and unsubstantiated and I'm insulted by your inserting it into this discussion.

Chris Cotter is out. Chuck Oliver will do roving football commentary but won't have his own weekday show.
