2008??

More syndication.....

I can see B101 going in that direction with possbly Mike Harvey going to 6 nights a week.Getting more heavier on the 80's.
It would nt surprise me if WHJJ and WHJY or WSNE get sold as a package deal.Going local with one more time slot on HJJ.

Geoff Charles, PAul and Al or Charlie Jeffords, one of these guys gone by years end.

I don't see mandatory staffing this year but it will be on the table. If Mandatory Staffing does get mandated.

WHJY will be live O'nites at the Ghetto plex and WPRO-FM would more than likely be the live one O'nights on the trail with each of two jocks making minimum wage.To have the one live body in the building if that's what te law is going to be.
I personally think in Todays world 24/7 staffing is a must.'ll evan settle for the one body for four stations.

Oh, yea. I almost forgot WALE will be live and local with talk from 6 am to 6 pm with Steve White and Sherm Strickhouser comming back from the dead to complain about the latest snow storm.
(I'm only kidding there)

Someone may come up with the idea of a spanish talk station in Providence but I dought it. I believe there is money to be made there in Providence.
Other than that nothing interesting

My prediction is that WPRO will be the only station that remains interesting.

Not fair!!!......You can't use that one as a prediction......It's already happened! :D

For whatever it's worth (not much, but...)...I'm sticking with my prediction that one or both of the Cumbre/ADD Radio Group duo of 990/1320 will get sold off.

Time will tell, won't it. ;)

Mandatory staffing doesn't mean live. It only means someone in the building. Why the hell would any of these stations go live overnight when they're not live during the day or evening? To a layman the definition of what goes on at the ghetto penthouse is prerecorded radio after morning drive.

I agree 100 %. What would you have some one do between 12- 5 in the morning.I think they would want to get the bang for the buck.
Then again a 12-5 person at the Ghetto plex would more than likely be asigned dutied like serching for news and morning show prep. Sort of like a board ops duties in the early 90's.

I wish that I had the money to buy that dump called WALE. Radio in this state would never be the same again. I would turn it into the Jerry Springer of Radio where I would just broadcast wacky things all day. It might not be professional, but it sure would be freaking entertaining! I bet the ratings would go through the roof too.

I'm convinced that off the wall programming is the only thing that will ever revive that mess. Unfortunately it would probably take ridiculous amounts of money just to turn the transmitter on.

So my prediction for this year is that WALE will continue to remain silent. By the way..... this is the most confident I've ever been of a prediction in my entire life. :)

Who cares about "professional sounding" as long as you could get people's fingers to punch up the 990 frequency on thier radios. God save us all from every station that sounds "professional", but is as boring as a bowl of cold oatmeal (without the cream and sugar... ;))

You're probably right. It would likely take insane amounts of money to do a Bob Vila - style "This Old Station" makeover of that dump.

Too bad 990 doesn't qualify for a frequency in the expanded band (in exchange for turning in the 990 license, of course). 10 Kw days / 1 Kw nights non-directional in or near Providence, using one sitck on someone else's array would actually make for decent coverage in the area.

As it is now, the current technical situation makes 990 the station that logic forgot. ;)

Why are you predicting they will remain silent? They're not silent. They signed on with that amor tropical format last month. The sound quality is awful not that that matters to anyone who would listen to any kind of music on AM.

You are telling me they are actually broadcasting a signal? Hmmmm... Not on my Radio. I tune in and hear nothing. Guess I'll have to check again.

The ghetto-plex will never go live overnight. You can pay one person $8/hr to watch all four stations; if it becomes mandatory that's what they'll do.

After all that's $15,000 per year. Hell, they'll probably just add it to the duties of the program director.

Then what. Make them sleep on a couch in the reception area.
