2012 DFW Area Radio Predictions

I predict the 7-7-7 rule will come back into place. With that, all stations will be staffed with real live human beings, 24/7. Further, minimum salary for all on-air folks will be 75K and all full-timers will work a 5-day week, with a maximum 4-hour shift. Also,......ah crap. Forget it.

That would be nice. I don't know if that's possible. Not sure who else is on 95.3.

In their case the problem isn't who else is on 95.3, it's where the KHYI tower is located. They're licensed as a contour protection (directional) station with regard to KLTY, so they had to suppress their signal toward Cedar Hill to address what amounts to a short-spacing of a few miles. KHYI's antenna is actually at a fairly decent height, and as a result the power had to be reduced substantially. In any event, they're pretty much maxed out with regard to power, antenna height or an equivalent combination, and the tower location isn't flexible.
