2013 Entertainment Industry Obituaries

She won an Obie award in 1960 for best actress. She appeared on several tv series, including Taxi, Newhart, Will & Grace, Murder She Wrote and All In The Family. She appeared in several films, including Clue and Pippi Longstocking, but she is best remembered for her role as Army Captain Doreen Lewis in Private Benjamin: "If Patton were alive, he'd slap your face!"

Eileen Brennan died of bladder cancer July 28. She was 80.

RCA included no biography or pictures when they distributed Charley Pride's first single (The Snakes Crawl At Night, 1966) to radio stations because they assumed that country radio programmers wouldn't play the record if they knew Pride was black. Well, we all found out...and Pride has had 52 top-ten country hits and 29 number ones. There ya go!

Gail Kobe had a small part in the 1956 film The Ten Commandments, appeared on several tv shows in the 1950s-60s, and directed 210 episodes of The Bold & The Beautiful. She died August 1 at age 82.
