2017 Media Predictions

Back on topic, since we're already a few days into 2017 (taken from another board but modified them a bit):

KTVF, under its new ownership by Gray, will not only finally go HD, but moves back to their previous Van Horn Road studios with a completely new look and set and Libby Casey (formerly of KUAC, C-SPAN, and Al-Jazeera America and currently at the Washington Post) returning home to Fairbanks as their new News Director

In addition, K13XD will fold and CBS will return on KTVF on 11.2; KFXF Fox 7 will remain the same but will try again at a 10:00 pm newscast produced by KTVF. Both stations will add their first diginets as well.

Ratings for Donald Trump's inauguration will reach an all-time low thanks to a star-studded benefit concert and telethon also on January 20 (which I already brought up on another thread, but the date is fast approaching), which will be telecast and streaming live on various networks as well as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Hulu

In response to the successes of "Fuller House" and the new "Gilmore Girls" on Netflix, Crackle (Sony's streaming service) will reboot "What's Happening!!" with Kenan Thompson playing Fred "Rerun" Berry's role

Hulu will launch its first game show: a reboot of the short-lived PBS game show "Think Twice" with John O'Hurley as host; the top prize this time: $25,000 in cash and a five-year Hulu membership!

"WWE Raw" will finally revert to two hours!!!

Ian Hanomansing will succeed Peter Mansbridge on CBC's "The National"

"The Biggest Loser" moves to TLC with former WWE wrestler Stacy Keibler as new host and executive producer (Alison Sweeney was never the latter)

87-year-old Pat Robertson finally retires as host of "The 700 Club" (besides, Bob Barker retired from The Price Is Right at 83)!!

The employees of WHDH/WLVI will propose their own buyout of the stations from Ed Ansin, making them the first such entity since WWL-TV in the early '90s

108 Kmarts and 42 Sears are on the chopping block, including the Sears in Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids (which opened in 1968 with the mall) and ten more Kmarts in Michigan, following the seven Kmarts that closed in December.
I just heard on the radio that the first KMart, outside Detroit, will close.

They've done it, though the idea of Kenan as Rerun actually sounds interesting. William Jackson Harper of "The Good Place" looks just like Raj but he couldn't do it as long has other show is a success.

Don't forget Meredith Media they have TV stations around the country too. The problem here is that in Cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia all of our stations are managed and owned directly by the networks. Were the ones not aware that alleged media bias can happen on Local TV too. It's just here in San Francisco when we say media bias we go after cable News/talk networks like MSNBC, CNN and Fox News Channel over what their talk show hosts ranted about that day. We had no clue about who Sinclair is and their alleged bias due to documentaries they air during this time of year and exclusive interviews. Although Sinclair used to have KOVR Sacramento prior to 2005. In 2005 CBS took over KOVR 13 and converted it to an O&O. In the case of Sinclair selling KOVR at the time this was really about CBS going around the Oakland Raiders Blackout policy at the time.

Well The Scrutiny at Sinclair is correct here but this time its for budget reasons.

Where I live we had a chain called Thalhimer's that brings back memories. My mother would shop there all the time. The headquarters was in Richmond, VA but we had lots of stores in NC.

The nearest town to where I live had a KMart which moved and then closed a few years ago. Sears moved into part of the space with an appliance store but that's now empty. We still have KMart in the two nearest towns and Sears in one of them. I can't tell that any of the stores are having problems but it sure is hard to find a cashier at Sears.
Okay, one of the KMarts is closing but it's not one I've gone to more than once.
