That or this ultimatum by the owners, "Either a deal by July 4th or the season is completely cancelled."Surely both sides cannot be stupid or tone deaf enough to try to push another 60-game "season" on us, can they?
They need to set an earlier deadline. MLB blew its chance to virtually monopolize television sports during the first spring and summer of the pandemic by not starting in May as many had hoped it would. Instead, it started on July 24, only a couple of weeks before the first NFL preseason games. Again, a 60-game season (which is what a late July start would mean) is not going to fly in a non-emergency setting. Set the deadline for April 15. If the players want to play and the owners want to have a season more than they want to break the union, a late April start and 140 games would still feel like a full season. That or this ultimatum by the owners, "Either a deal by July 4th or the season is completely cancelled."
Just imagine if Gary Bettman was the baseball commissioner.🤯The NHL used the nuclear option in 2004, cancelling the entire 2004-05 season.
The 1994 baseball strike damaged attendance for several seasons. It took the chemically enhanced 1998 home run race to get the fans back in the stands. But baseball fans have been through this too many times to behave that way if MLB '22 never happens.
You forgot "and so on."Just suggestions to what would like to see happen and at least not all together.
