Dave & Dave,
I do know the difference between skywave and groundwave and salt water path. That's my whole point!
WCAU was receivable all DAY (DAY is when the sun is in the sky and you don't need a flashlight to see where you're walking - on groundwave)
and NIGHT - mix of skywave and groundwave with cancellation at times (NIGHT is when it's partly moony, starry and dark outside).
Holy crap! And yes, I know the wonders of salt water path on AM when the 400 watter in Pleasantville NJ gets DX mail from Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, England and France.
My point is simply this boys, 1210 is running on flat tires today. It's a Nascar race-ready competitor running on deisel instead of Sunoco 120 octane. It's simply sad to see such a once-great station with the heritage of William Paley, now barely covering the market and run into the ground.
And as far as 1180 being a "science experiment", long live the independant broadcaster! Keep the power to the tower 1180, 740, 1370.
