60 Seconds with John DePetro, 60 seconds too much

If you do borrow the books, you'll probably enjoy my reviews and biographies of Country artists the best, Boston Rose!, though there isn't much country in Rhode Island...

I don't live in Rhode Island, I am not John DePetro [EDIT]

[EDIT=personal attack.]

I have nothing but contempt for Mr. V but that comment isn't necessary.

I missed the comment, Intercomm99, because unlike BostonRose, I'm busy working (and recuperating from a recent hospitilization) - but I would like to know what was written. You know my mail e mail address - my name at Yahoo

If insipid drivel were gold, this thread would be Fort Knox.

On the other hand, given who its subject is, it figures.

If DePetro read these threads on the air it would do his show a world of good. No matter how bad the back and forth gets, he would at least have a script.

Of course there will always be that problem with his delivery

Problem with delivery? what station are you on again?
oh yeah, you're not

Radio Double,

Muscle Relaxers! I got rid of them first possible chance, thank you for asking.

They did the trick. So don't mess with me if ya meet me in a dark alley! I'm back to full strength!

Unlike former program directors, drugs are not my thang...and they're oh so passe'

the two fans of John DePetro reminding us of the gay slur Depetro threw at Amorello. Too bad such anti-gay activity has filtered over to this board.

I'm no fan of DePetro, but I would be hard pressed to call those 'slurs'. I think you played your 'gay card' a little to early this time. :(

excuse me? The F word is as slur as slur can get. Unless, of course, someone is a bigot drinking alcoholic beverages. Then there is no "slur", just their slurred opinion, Lucy Lu, and prima facie evidence that you and DePetro are in the same boat.

repulsive.

p.s. read some excerpts from Chip Lamey/Ira Robbins reviews:

COUNT
I'm a Star (French Flamingo) 1979
Love & Flame (French New Rose) 1982
The Intuition Element (VAR International) 1984

The Count — Joseph A. Viglione — has been a visible and important fixture on the local Boston scene ever since the mid-'70s. Besides recording and performing his own material, he's published fanzines, promoted concerts, produced other bands and operated the Varulven label. Oddly enough, his first two albums have never been issued outside France.

I'm a Star owes quite a bit to the influence of the Velvet Underground and, like Lou Reed, the Count knows how to make the most of a voice with a limited range. The tracks — many previously issued in the US on singles and EPs — are appealing because of their simple, romantic outlook on life. Love & Flame finds the Count in a more mainstream new wave format.

The Intuition Element, dynamically produced by veteran Jimmy Miller, is a highly charged near-metal rock album filled with blistering guitar solos (credit Fudge Keegan), thundering drums and more of the Count's individualistic songs.

=================================
Post Post Script

That photo of me with the hands is while I'm talking to author Dennis "Mystic River" Lehane. The piano in the studio was played by Ray Manzarek of The Doors prior to my Manzarek interview (and right before I drove Mr. & Mrs. Manzarek to the Howie Carr Show).

I take the air piano remark made about an Italian guy who often uses his hands during interviews (always in a professional way, unlike how certain radio people use their hands in violation of Mass General Law) as Italian discrimination. I will now make an illegal hand signal and extend one digit to you, Big Bunny!

attention seeker

No, radio double, not attention seeker. Just someone who doesn't like being swift boated. Obviously people like you have no lives, so you live vicariously through my exciting and unique life. I'm flattered. Now go away. I have records to re-mix and books to write. Reading this board is what I do for a good laugh - seeing how pathetic some of the little people are.
