64k 100 Slots vs 128k 50 Slots

With iTunes supporting AAC+ now (no para stereo) just use 64k and it'll sound great.

Alas listeners upgrading will take their time. Right now 9% of my iTunes audience are on iTunes 9 so either wait until critical mass is reached, or be clever and run either a PHP or ASP script on the listen file and detect the User Agent and then route the client to MP3 is older iTunes or AAC to new server. NOt that difficult, just time consuming to write. :)

Half of me wonders if at some point iTunes will insist on AAC.

So far I'm seeing about 45% today, Apple Update is on a weekly check so it will be up to 7 days before you see over 75% upgraded. I ran a message every 10 minutes yesterday notifying them first though. That script sounds cool though, if you do write it I'd love a copy!

We see iTunes listeners as "freeloaders" since we make no ad revenue off of them so maybe the time they think we're offline they'll visit the website to listen in much higher quality...

Nah, they just move onto the next station... Very little loyalty there sadly.
