There's a spot running on 680 The Fan saying "We're giving you a front row ticket Friday morning as we continue to grow our family." Matt Chernoff just said it has to do with the direction of the radio station.
They have room for one more on either band.secondchoice said:IIRC Cumulus (counting the Dickey stations) are maxed out.
Depends on the size of the market. For ATL, it's 8, with no more than 5 on either band. Translators don't count.secondchoice said:I thought the limit was 5. What is the limit?

Possibly called "The Front Row" I'm guessing 9a-Noon?

I like this idea. There aren't a lot of DTV broadcasters left on the low VHF band; most of them moved at first or later to high VHF or UHF. This would increase the size of the FM band by 50% (78-88MHz); even moreso on a practical basis if the band were restricted to digital signals only (assuming the problems with DTV in this band wouldn't apply to digital radio) and signals could be packed tighter both by frequency and geographically. It would also might help the adoption of HD Radio, if that became the exclusive standard for the FM x-band.secondchoice said:The 1230 and 1340 could be worth something if the FCC ever gets smart and allows Class C and D AM's to move a "new" expanded band, the old VHF TV channels 2-6. These channels do not work as well for digital TV as the UHF part of the spectrum. The cell phone companies don't want this part of the spectrum and the FCC could set a minimum price say 25 or 50 cents per person in the 60DB coverage for the AM to migrate then auction the rest. The FCC could collect some $$, and expand the "ownership" base. The NAB would have a fit, but sooner or later the ownership limits caps would be raised due the the # of stations increasing.

I believe the 1340 antenna is on the WCLK/91.9 tower. Aren't there 5 black colleges in the complex where one of them could take care of 1340?Firebird said:Why would they hold on to those 2 flea-powered stations? They could donate those stations to the local universities (1230 to KSU & 1340 to GSU) if better stations came along for purchase.

BarryATL said:Actually, if my fuzzy memory is correct, WCLK was hanging on the side of the 1340 tower. That tower is/was (not sure about the current contract) owned by 1340 and they leased the land that it sits on. Actually, a parking lot was built in the early 80s beside the tower and the ground system is under the pavement. When WCLK came on the air, they hung their bays on the side of the 1340 tower.
