Have you by chance heard Pitbull's "Back in Time" and the huge classic it samples?? Talk about mangling an oldie! I shouldn't complain though, I downloaded it.

"Anytime You Need a Friend" was the fourth single from an album which saw its first two singles go to #1, and the third one to #3. "...Friend" only reached #12, and just basically got "lost in the shuffle," not only among the other singles from that album, but in Mariah's career as a whole. The only Mariah Carey song I ever hear anymore is "Emotions." She had so many "soft" tracks, but they just don't fit in to what the AC format is trying to do these days, I guess. I'm looking for a day soon that even "Because You Loved Me" will be too soft for the format; Celine Dion, for the most part, has lost most AC airplay, and she was at one time a staple.
Madonna's 90s material has been pretty much forgotten, unfortunately. Her post-"Vogue" tracks have faded in to oblivion. Other than the occasional "Take A Bow" spin, the majority of her 90s music hasn't lasted.
Gloria Estefan had some awesome songs, but again, many are probably too slow for the format now. I never hear her anymore, and I think her rendition of "Turn The Beat Around" as well as "Conga" are very 2012 AC-friendly.

This is the problem with radio. Listeners don't sit down with a bunch of charts and say "Well that song has to be dropped because the stats say so"
If a songs tests well and is a listener favorite, why drop it ?
I'm going out on a limb and say September, Love Shack, Old Time Rock and Roll, and many other so called "aged out" songs still test well for the format, and probably better than some of the current offerings.
There are some songs you don't play ;D
Keep in mind most AC stations are slower to add new product, and most new adds are in a light rotation
Same thing holds true about Madonna that I said about Mariah Carey a page or two back: she's had so many hits that it is almost inevitable that some of them will fall through the cracks and never be heard on radio ever again.carolinaradio said:

I read in the newspaper that during the chimpanzee period (yes, that means what you think it means) on what was my adult standards station at the time they played Mariah Carey. Probably "Vision of Love" and "Endless Love", but I don't recall hearing her.carolinaradio said:

Except, WLMG/New Orleans played it a lot before their playlist update back in February, but it seems like "Live To Tell" slowly faded away from their playlist after their playlist update. WMGF/Orlando also played "Live To Tell" occasionally earlier this year as well, but it seems like "Live To Tell" have faded away from their playlist completely. Recently, I still see KOST/Los Angeles and WLIT/Chicago playing "Live To Tell" once in a while.
