Rob Jontay has left WNYH----Quoting him....."citing severe communication issues, and an egotisical wanna-be program director who knows nothing about radio, that was The Good Doctor." Seems there was no way to run the station with Dr. Yoon the present Doctor / owner dabbling in his new hobby.....
There was no access to the transmitter automation system by the "staff or management" which meant no way to make the station sound professional. The format became too all over the road, he states. Giving up the ghost, he says "the station is basically one-hour CD shows (jocks picked the music) and the Dr.'s brother sits at the Tx site and dubs them in." As Rob and Tom Pantaleo (Steve Ronson) tried to assist the owner to make the station sound better, less and less communication or even control was given to them. They eventually have been pulled off the "air" by the Doctor who obviously is on a power trip. Rob couldn't communicate in English anymore with the Doctor so he wrote a letter in Korean and told the Dr. to "call me when you want to make a splash in the market. Call me when you want to put a dent in those other stations ratings. In other words when you're as serious about this product (oldies and country radio) as I am." He didn't receive any response from the doctor, so it's over. He was unofficially the first station manager and morning host----"at least that's what the diner napkin contract said on it!" he said.
Good luck---we'll see what happens to the other two "CD voice-jocks" left, Tom / Steve and Ron Dipaolis. Rob says look for "a major announcement soon."
