I wanted to apologize to the "Daniel Chapter One" folks for wrongly assuming the time slot was replaced with another music show. I should have did more research before going on my rant....(This would all be solved if WPEZ would just be revived!)
AMEN!!!

One of Gilda Radner's most popular catchphrases, Never Mind...

When did you guys bring back the answer to insomnia at 3pm? Man radio in Pittsburgh has really tanked. Charles Showalter is terrible. It is more interesting listening to paint dry. Bring the music back, please. I cannot believe the unions in Pittsburgh are stupid enough to put this guy out as their voice. No wonder they are in decline. Flippin the dial.

Steelerscountry, did you really register for this board just to make that remark? I guess I should be
impressed. ;D

Charles Showalter, like the other program hosts on 620 and 770, pays for the air time. He had been
displaced from 660 when they switched to WAMO. The show returned to 770's airwaves on Monday
(3/12).

620 & 770 would air an hour of cats farting if the check cleared.

and if that worked it would be in the KDKA weekend lineup within a month.

770 is still primarily playing music. If you listen to the non-music programming on 620, you will find it's
overwhelmingly alternative-health-talk, with the occasional religious program, and of course, polkas on
the weekend.

The business model for the two stations is paid programming, so yes, if the time can be sold, it will be
sold.

New slogan for 620.

"Classic Rock & Quack Talk"

The classic rock is on 103.1. And if you don't like the format on 620, there are plenty of other stations
to choose from.

Does that guy called Big Ray on 770 have any idea how ridiculous his show closing sounds? The one with the Mickey Mouse theme and a whole bunch of other crap. It goes on and on forever, how about just a simple goodbye and play another oldie. It's all very juvenile and amateurish sounding.

And by checking the ratings, most people have taken that advice.

Since 620 does not attempt to compete for ratings, your comment is not relevant. In the infamous words of
the Lost In Space robot, "it does not compute."

Big Ray pays for the time and can do whatever he wants. If you don't like his show closing, why not take it up
with him directly? The phone number is 412-829-7100, weekdays between 10 AM and Noon. And be polite: his
wife answers the phone.

Great response, using a fictional character from an old TV show to make a point, and a robot to boot. Maybe the reason is that subscribing to Arbitron now costs money. It's something that small stations don't like to do, spend money.

Ha..Cingram. I thought that is what a radio message board is for, to offer opinions about stations in the area. I see people doing it all the time on here. I have witnessed people trashing the guys on The Fan many times. Why did not those posters take up with them directly. I will watch your posts from now on and if you critique anyone I will be on here telling you to take it up with them personally and even offer a phone number if I can come up with one.

You're missing the point: KHB has low ratings because it doesn't compete for ratings and hasn't since the WHJB
years. The format is paid programming. To fail to comprehend this is like asking why KDKA and KQV don't play
more music. It's neither the format nor the business model.

As for Arbitron, subscribing to their ratings has always cost money, unless you are only interested in seeing the
published (6+) numbers. I'll miss those, but our stations don't live and die by the ratings, and that is unlikely to
change.

I doubt you will find me critiquing anyone on this board. If you've got time to follow my posts from now on, more
power to you.

As for Big Ray, I work for the station in question and I post under my real name (which is more than I can say for
you and F.M. Hertz). You're entitled to your opinion, but posting it on here changes nothing; it just gives a false
sense of empowerment.

Here is real empowerment:
IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU HEAR, CHANGE THE STATION! It's much more effective than complaining on some
message board.

Betcha if I scan the AM dial at the end of Big Ray's show I can find at least 5 things
that are far worse.

Every year I make a New Year's resolution that goes something like this: "I will not argue with anonymous
posters on the Internet." This year, I made it all the way to May 11. Hopefully I can do better next year.
