In today's edition of Radio-Info's Tom Taylor Newsletter he mentions that WPRX 1120 AM in Bristol has been fine $7,000 for failure to renew its license. The station should've filed for a license renewal back in December 2005 and didn't and the FCC didn't catch it til 5 years later. And yes they were allowed to renew their license.
Gee between the $7,000 FCC fine, the $42,000 in taxes they had to pay to the city of Bristol for their Tower Site on Sherbrooke Street, and the increase in taxes from the city of New Britain (where their studios are), it's turning out to be a bad year for WPRX. Maybe Sr. Nieves ought to sell the place. Believe it or not 18 years later there are still people in Bristol who wish the station would be sold and go back to local community programming.
