Here's a fun game we can all play; 810 AM, after flipping formats and owners back in June, has hardly been making a dent in the market when it comes to sales. They are now shedding their local programming ("After Further Review" got the toss today)...as if airtime buyers are going to flock to buy time on the Yahoo! satellite programming. So closest date to when "The Doc Show on Sports" gets the boot and closest date to 810 ditching sports altogether. The winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to the corner of Mercy and Princeton courtesy of Daisy Lynum....
 
"Darn it why didn't we just go with America's Radio News..."

But then again, they'd still have to sell local spots.

I sense another Spanish AM coming.

They're going to lose the three listeners they have once 580 goes ESPN next week ;D I would say then, but more likely by the end of regular football season, maybe a week or two into the playoffs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they have some kind of contract with some provider (name escapes me) of a national radio feed of football games. Once that's done the pay for play will return. You cannot have 4 different sports stations in this town.
 
Wonder whatever happened to those grand plans to fire up a sports-themed restaurant and move the station there? Oh yeah, ESPN tried that years ago and it didn't work too well then....
 
I had told a couple of big-market programmer friends of mine about this place when it started, and one said "I predict bounced checks before the end of the year."
 
AFR was paid talent; hence the decision to drop them. That PR was too funny -- every business is pretty much "in the black" before the doors open. Hahahahaha!
 
Sounds like they may be circling the wagons. That is why you LMA first like they did.
 
I have been approached by them to do a show, anyone know what they are billing or for that what did they pay form LMA?
Being new in town who should I see about airing my sports show? I do lots of college sports talk and not sure who in this town would caarry it.
I heard that 1080 is a really well run company but looking for truth. Is 580 going to do broker shows or just carry network?
I arrive in Orlando next week so hope someone can help.
 
810 will most certainly ask you to pay to be on the station. Not sure what they're asking, but I would imagine since they aren't booking much in the way of ads that they are hoping to cover expenses on the back of brokered shows. Never worked for/with Genesis, so can't comment about 1080. I'd prolly steer clear of 810, but that's just me.

Genesis has rights to Dial Global, Compass Media, Jacksonville Jaguars, FSU Seminoles, UMiami Hurricanes, Atlanta Braves (last season, I don't know about next.)
 
We realize certain people there are trying very hard, but certain other people are in above their heads. Does anyone there even know 810 isn't operating at full power currently and hasn't been in days?
 
How do you know that unless you are in the transmitter room? Are you?
 
No guess. The transmitter sent me an email about it. Apparently the New Guys haven't figured out how to let themselves know of such things. :eek:
 
I was down in Orlando yesterday and tuned into 810 and it sounded horrible. Strange tone to the audio - really bad. Don't know about the power but the sound isn't good.
