890 Testing

The new 890 station was testing today (sunday 1/25). It had spanish programming on it. Decent signal.

Yes, this is 890---the Fomer Walhalla SC station that was moved to Lithia Springs. Now licensed to New Life Broadcasting.

They will be share-site at WAOK

Growing up in the 70's in Atlanta, I tuned to 890 am to hear "Music Radio - WLS" out of Chicago every night after sunset. When I was in 5th grade in 1975, I tuned my little transister radio on 890 AM and would hear John Landecker doing the Boogie check. I had a friend over spending the night one time, and we were playing cards listening to the music. He did not know that I had set the radio to that frequency. They predicted snow for the next morning. My friend got real excited thinking that we were going to get snow in Atlanta. I laughed, and I finally had to tell him that we were listening to Chicago. He was real mad at me. Anyway, those were great memories.

Any idea on a permanent format? Religious?

I would guess that Latino would not be an option, considering the number of Latino stations that have gone dark lately.

Why do we need another "nobody will listen" to AM radio station in this massive market? I thought it was going to be 50k during the day ?????
