Technically, this is a Detroit board, but 89x is programmed to Detroit too, so I should be able to proceed. One thing I have noticed in Detroit's radio ratings is how well 89x is doing, and it's not just the fact that they have been able to fight off any competition. In May's ratings book, 89x had a 3.9 share with a cume of 641,400. now, why is this important? When 93.9 went AAA again in 2006, 89x sort of began competing with 101WRIF. I have never really believed those two stations competed against each other. But in some way I suppose they do, and if so, the two stations have the same rating in May(3.9) with WRIF having the higher cume 697.200 to 641.000. My question is this: Why has 89X gotten so close to the 'RIF? is 106.7's position between 94.7 and 101.1 helping 89x gain listeners who don't want to listen to Classic Rock? Does the fact that 89x pretty much beats most stations to new Alternative music, which has turned into crossover Hit music(in some cases)? I think this is important because if 89x kept it going, and passed the 'RIF, they could be top ten in the market. and considering, the Can-Con regulations they have to meet, being able to meet that requirement, and still hitting it big with new stuff is no small feat. What do you think? As usual, all replies are welcome, regardless if you agree or not. Stay cool out there.
