90.3 HD3

It's already there. But I wonder for how long? WKSU and all their repeaters should be blanketing the Cleveland area quite nicely. Maybe they can eventually move Folk Alley to HD3.
WKSU and their repeaters already simulcast WCLV (save for the overnight jazz) on their HD3s. It makes sense to give WKSU an additional relay via 90.3-3.

Does this mean that 90.3 FM will now go full time classical music overnights?

That would make sense. All jazz listeners are not insomniacs.

Also, it would be nice to have some classical music available in the late-night hours.

From the "JazzNEO" link provided earlier:

"With the launch of JazzNEO, WCLV’s [90.3's] overnight programming will return to classical music in May of 2024."

Yes, it is a nice reciprocal agreement. I can understand WKSU HD3 simulcasting WCLV since 90.3 is probably not covering the Akron area and points south very well. But 89.7 with its numerous repeaters/translators/boosters should be covering the Cleveland area nicely and IMO doesn't need to be simulcast on WCLV HD3.

The booster project is still a work in progress. I drove through Cleveland in December and January and listened pretty critically to 89.7 along the way. It's certainly better than it used to be, but there are still some areas where the signal isn't fully competitive and may never be, especially on the east side along 271.

So the 90.3-HD2 simulcast definitely serves a purpose. If I lived in the core of the Cleveland market, it's probably the frequency I would put on a car preset for the most seamless reception of the WKSU news format.

Will the new overnight classical program be an NPR national feed or will it be a local voice tracked one?
I'm not naive enough to even think they would hire some eager college kid to do a live all night show like they did years ago!
It was interesting when they were in the Terminal Tower and their console was a 2-channel GE monster jerry rigged for stereo with a rubber band connecting two faders together so each channel could be adjusted at the same time. Never a lot of money there but it paid off when Mr. Conrad and partners got a reported $45 million from Salem for it. Who caught the big "fish" then? But they saved the classical format and now on 90.3 it's happy days again. I can get it without an external antenna!

I'm guessing the overnight programming will be local voice tracked.

Mr. Conrad and partners hit the jackpot again when they sold 1420 to Salem. I'm still not happy about that.

jazzNEO is now on the air and it's on 90.3 HD2 along with the Ideastream website and app.

So far, it sounds terrific. Got to hear Dee and she hasn't missed a beat!
Agreed, although they need to show the RDS title/artist information like on the main classical station.

EDIT: As of 4:10 PM, RDS title/artist now showing on HD2 channel.

Any word as to when or if they will put classical back on the main channel overnights?
The web site says May, 2024:

With the launch of JazzNEO, WCLV’s overnight programming will return to classical music in May of 2024. Listen to JazzNEO on 90.3 HD2 on any HD equipped radio, tune in at JazzNeo.org, stream on Ideastream.org (click on “All Streams” in the top right, then select JazzNEO) or via the Ideastream Public Media app, or tell your smart speaker to “Play JazzNEO.”

That should get plenty of people used to the new channel
