91.1?

Getting a Visa Vision station at 91.1 at home. Never gotten anything on this frequency before. This is at Vets Memorial north of BW 8.

Also to note, there is a dead carrier at 94.9 that's just popped up in the last few days. No audio, and a bit more static than the aforementioned 91.1. Both of these must be recently put on the air.

On 91.1 it looks like there are two possibilities: K216FL, a 99 watt translator in Huntsville and KNLY with 15kW from New Waverly. KNLY would appear to be more likely, although the NW-SE pattern doesn't favor your location. They applied for a license a few months ago, although it's still listed as "accepted for filing."

On 94.9, it's purely speculation on my part but the only thing I'd suspect would be KHTZ Ganado. Maybe.

I heard the religious station on 91.1 about a year or so ago near I-45 and FM1960; thought it was a pirate at first as I never could catch a legal ID. Was a simulcast of a TV religious ministry. There was a thread about it on this board; it was believed to be the New Waverly station. I tried a quick search for the thread, but it's not coming up.

It's got to be New Waverly given your descriptions, guys. It didn't run an ID while I sat on the frequency but it was certainly a ministry that sounded a lot like the programming offered on KZHO 38. Odd, I've never picked this up before, or I just never paid any attention to it. 94.9 is still there this morning with the dead carrier, but it is not KHTZ. Too weak, more the signal strength of a small translator. I lost it around Airtex and North Freeway this morning. It's clear enough to lock in the stereo light but has static as I drove around this morning running errands on the northside. South of 8, it is gone.
