From Debi Diaz's Facebook page-

Debi Diaz
Is unemployed... The entire 92.1 staff dismissed today. Third time in 4 years... This is getting really old....

why did they blow everyone out? What's next? I like that station myself, hope we don't loose our only classic country signal.

They haven't been classic country for a while now. Maybe they will go BACK to classic country!

Dont hold your breath on Classic Country format coming back.

First, to clarify: It's KTFW (not KFTW.) And there's always confusion with this frequency since KXEZ 92.1/Farmersville covers the Dallas side, and plays/played a somewhat similar format. Most of us on the Dallas side who don't venture often to Cowtown have probably never heard KTFW.

For Debi Diaz, it's a double whammy...her husband Sam also lost his job at KTFW yesterday.

I've never been a fan of KTFW owner LKCM. It's an investment company who never owned radio stations before, and who has a board of directors full of borderline Gen-Y'ers who probably bought a station because they thought it would be "fun" and "cool." My favorite story about the place (The Ranch, specifically, a few years back) is, as I was told, the jocks weren't allowed to play any female country artists because the girlfriend of one of the Directors didn't like (or was jealous of) those female artists. ::)

Also: what will happen to Joe Bielinski's weekend classic country show?

I would think it will be country with all the coverage they have in rural area, They are saying something about he is coming, not sure what that means.

The Ranch still doesn't play female artists (well, maybe about 1 song in 20). Talk about a boring, restrictive format...all Male, all modern Texas Country. I liked them better a few years back when they would sprinkle in Dwight Yoakam, Waylon Jennings, Miranda Lambert, Merle Haggard, LeeAnn Womack, etc..

Stations using the Hank FM brand name typically air a country music format, and promote themselves as less strictly formatted than other country music stations, airing both new country and classic country music. They generally use the slogan (He) Plays Everything Country. But will they have local on air staff??

Well...judging by the mass firing that took place, I'd have to say.....ummmmm...

No. ;D

Oh...some more C&W stations playing Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts to death. I hope this new HANK FM leans toward 1989 and earlier stuff.

The Texas music format has very few women in it anyways. There is a fair share of Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Kelly Willis, Kristen Kelly, Kimberly Kelly, and Sunny Sweeney played on the station.

Their (now deleted) Facebook page had lots of pissed listeners commenting about the change.
