92.1 Stunting Now

Pretty obvious what the new format will be. All I can say is thank God that loop is over. It felt like the movie "Groundhog Day" for a bit there.

I'm still thinking they go with a Z-Rock type format, as I can't really see another classic rocker. This will probably be aimed at KRXQs audience.

Driving back thru Sacramento from Tahoe and on 92.1 heard Life Is A Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the group was called Reunion. Haven't heard that song in years.......... don't ask me to remember the words.

Is it bad I'm enjoying the stunting format? :)

Any ideas how long it will be before they launch the full time format? I expected it to go live this morning.

Based on recent experience, I would say about 2 months. lol

Honestly, I would think no more than 1 week. I, too, have enjoyed the real stunting. Kind of interesting what specific 'rock' songs they chose to play for this...there are MANY others with 'rock' in the titles they aren't using...meh, just my own observation.

I'm growing weary of the "92.1, The Stunt" format. Get on with it already!!! Or sell it, or something...

I'm getting to wonder if they're going to keep it. I remember that it was some special partnership deal to acquire 92.1 from First. First Broadcasting was asking for a high price, probably higher than what Results could pay outright at the time.

There's probably some debt involved in the property, other parties.

Of course, running a loop for 7 weeks after several months of an unacknowledged simulcast doesn't help them financially.

It sold for 2 Million Dollars

First bought it from Moon for 7 Million and tried to sell it to Entravision for 20 Million

Staying at a friend's house in Stockton all week so I decided to turn on 92.1 today for the stunting and it changed. I've heard a weird mix of music that must still be a stunt because I haven't heard any station identification or moniker aside from a legal id.

I think it is still a stunt of sorts. A mimimalist presentation with only "KMJE Placerville" as the I.D. with some people talking about how they like the 80's with a very short 80's playlist. The loop is still with us. I'm initally wowed- not.

Just found this thread, after checking 92.1 every time I was in the car to see what they were changing to. Was wondering how long they were going to be doing that loop. This weekend they were doing a "Karaoke Radio" format, playing instrumental versions of recent pop songs saying "Today's biggest hits, without the words" in between songs. Now they seem to be doing R&B, with vocals. The karaoke format would have actually been OK to stay with, I've been hoping the ultimate format they change to will be SOMETHING new and different but not holding my breath.

Actually it's more like "The Boy Band Channel" today. So I guess we can look forward to a "stunt of the day" untill October. Interesting.

They should let people vote on which one to use for the next long-term format. Funny that they did all 80s for a couple days when they already had that a few years ago when they were called "Flash 92.1", and guess that didn't work out for them. The "Rock" song thing sounded like it was going to be a rock format with a big variety, the karaoke format was certainly more daring though. I'd actually listen to that, or watch an all-karaoke TV channel. Just hope it doesn't end up as yet another oldies, top 40 or country station!
