92.1 Stunting Now

They are trying every conceivable format in their stunt. I wonder if they will try Classical Music or Easy Listening (aka Beautiful Music)? Smooth Jazz, Big Band, Adult Standards or Old Time Classic Radio Dramas would sound good too during this stunt?

Or how about a stunt of nothing but old Sacramento Radio Airchecks of those stations of bygone days like KROY-1240, KXOA-1470 or KZAP-98.5?

I saw your post about Country and called a friend who lives in Stockton because I was curious if it was another "bull" or what they were calling it. She turned it on and they were playing a Drake song and called themselves New 92. Is this the real format or another stunt? I'm home out of state so I can't get much listen time..... curious to hear from those of you in the market.

Sounds pretty polished if it's a stunt. IF (and that's a big if) its the real deal, the TSL will be low. Catchy slogan though.

Yes, definately more polished but still think they're stunting. They are branding as "New 92" and it is a mix of pop, rock, and country with title/artist tags after each song. But its still a loop, just like the others.

Driving to work this morning, 92.1 was a silent carrier and 93.1 seemed to be at reduced power. I wondered if they are doing STL work on the tower for the ownership change.

As of a few minutes ago, there was no carrier. Good point about STL changes as a possibility.

On Monday afternoon (9/23), I heard the afternoon jock on Classic 93.1 say that their tower was hit by lightning, and that they were operating under reduced power. That definitely explains the dead air for 92.1. Where is 93.1's backup tower such that the signal was so weak?

That would certainly explain it.

Sounds like the carrier is on at least it was earlier. 93.1 is probably running on it's exciter, at least it sounds that way. :/

Listened on the way to the airport this morning and it appears they're back at the "New 92" stunt.

So what the heck is the format now? Polka?

So the Top 40 CHR, top 40 Country, top 40 soft rock and top 40 rock, all combined. Interesting.

Now they are 50s & 60s oldies, positioning as "Crusty 92.1", as in crusty old songs. A bit odd, I thought, but still nice to hear the old favorites played again on the radio as this format has essentially gone extinct being replaced by 'classic hits'.
