Re: KABL Internet Stream

...but for how long? At a certain point Clear Channel will figure out that there are only a few listeners to the online feed. We had this discussion previously: how many older adults (that is, KABL's target audience) are listening online?
As I mentioned farther down in this thread, if the format is going to survive locally, CC will eventually have to move it back on the air on one of their "real" Bay Area stations. Unless they plan on letting the call letters rot down in Salinas forever...
CC might revive the format here -- even on AM -- if they went kitschy, more of the ultra-cool "cocktail lounge" style rather than "gee, wasn't Frankie Laine great back in 1954 when we were kids?"
Make it more hip and cool, and a new KABL might attract a broader audience. I'm not saying ignore your core older listeners; just widen it out by appealing to younger listeners who might enjoy the music, too.
With all due respect, an Oldies or Adult Standards station doesn't have to hire air talent that is as old as its target demo. Hire some younger voices who can energize the station.
Whoops ... just went off on a tangent.
