What's up with the TOH ABC News on KT'R-FM?
Today at 0600, 0800, 1200 and 1600 I heard them using what
we used to call the ABC Entertainment Network (ABC-E) feed
rather than the "top level" ABC Information Network (ABC-I),
so I think it can be safely assumed they did this all day.
OK, KT'R insiders, what happened? Your number 1 or 2 (depending
on how you spin the spring book
) news/talker doesn't just
give up the primo ABC Radio news network willingly.
Nothing against Larry Jacobs on the E net (in fact I think I knew
him years ago in Tucson when he was starting out in radio), but
morning drive just isn't morning drive without "...from ABC News,
Iii'm Doug Limerick."
Did ABC get ticked off that you cut out at :02 (or :02:18 after
you factor in your delay) and don't run the network stopset,
except during nights and weekends? I'm not sure KT'R made the
spots good during the same hour--maybe there's so many spots
with the likes of Grandpa Gerald, Michael Dixon, Rosie, Monty, the
biz news shill, etc., that one doesn't really "hear" a network spot
from all the local clutter.
Or is this payback from ABC for dropping Paul Harvey?
Or did 5300 North get hit bad by last night's storm and their sat
dish got all bent and this is all they can pick up today?
