Much of these first few days of 92.3 Now FM has been geared to tweak the competition and radio geeks, because face it, those are the people who were tuned in at 5pm Wednesday, breathlessly waiting to critique the choice of the first song. If there was ever a time to insult and rattle your competition, it's right at the start...before marketing begins (assuming they can afford it) and the masses start getting into 92.3 (if they're going to).
Likewise now's the time to drop a name like Sniffen...if he didn't hear it, you can bet that members of his flock did. They may have rushed to their keyboards hoping to scoop the rest of the board, but hardly anybody else out there noticed.
I wouldn't diss 92.3 for inside jokes and jabs at other stations quite yet. It's psychological warfare aimed at competitors and super-active listeners. It could very well die down when/if people with a life discover the station.
