I don't remember exactly when Skull and Miguel started, but look at those numbers this way.
In the space of a couple months, the Bone has opened up a lead of 1.0 (or more) on
A. The (realtively) long term morning show of the station that appeals directly to men 18-34 ( the Edge)
B. The EXTREMELY long term (for this market) morning show-(that is on the closest thing they have to a direct competitor) (KZPS)-that appeals to men 35-54.
and
C. the jockless morning show of a station that appeals to 25-54's and, IIRC, skews heavily female (Jack)...
And they've done all that with no marekting (or at least none that I've seen)...
How does that happen on a station that was dead in the water until September with a signal that is 1/2 the power of edge, jack, and zps?
If Cume-less is smart, they would put some marketing behind Bone mornings and run with it. Or better yet, CC should get them over to the Eagle where they belong.
As someone stated earlier, Eagle was flipped in 2004 because the numbers were in the toilet and they could not sell it. One would think CC would rethink making the same mistake.
As far as the Bone's numbers in the morning...could it possibly be because they are playing rock music when the other guys are not? I would be interested to see the Bone's numbers if it were all talk in the morning. Comparing Bone Mornings to a station that plays Texas Country/Southern Rock and another station that is all talk in the morning is comparing apples to oranges.
I have to believe that anyone's numbers "post" Walton and Johnson would improve. ;D
