92.5 THE BOX flipping formats???

Yes 92.5 signal is stronger than 95.9 is but what are they really thinking? I haven't found a 100,000 watt station yet in this part of the country that could have enough sales people to cover their entire coverage area. Granted 92.5 has to dump a lot of their signal in the ocean just by the fact of being located near the coast but still I don't see the advantage of going from 95.9 signal strength to 92.5's stronger signal if I had to pay the electric bill on 92.5 verses 95.9 considering where most of my paying costumers are going to be located. This has to be a political move againest another station since it makes little sense economically as the average listeners who spend money based on commericals they hear from either station of Kickin isn't going to change in their main coverage areas very much, ie: 97% of your business but yes the light bills will change while the bulk of average listeners are only aware the dial number changed on their radio and yes no matter how much you tell them ahead of time about 23% will still take a year or two to catch up to the new frequency.

Eagle has a huge signal. Not just SC, but all the way to Fayetteville, NC, and it comes in frequently in Charleston. That's why it has so many fans.

But, and I think this works this way with any station edging into other markets, once you get to Fayetteville, or Charleston, or Myrtle Beach, you pretty much surrender your cume to the home team (WKML, WEZL/WIWF, WGTR)...so does area covered really equal more FB fans? Or more cume in general?

That is the website 95.9 used when they were classic hits until September 2010.

Could they be bringing the format back? They had such a good thing going with classic hits and Bill and Kain, who really made it sound great towards the end....it sounded really good. They should have kept classic hits at 95.9 and launched Kickin' at 92.5.

Just when I didn't think Apex could get more confusing...

I have never said much about this but I do agree 92.5 as come full circle from it's begeinning as WHLZ wheels 92.5 to Kickin 92.5 I agree the station as gone full circle. Maybe Betty Ropper is huanting some people at both Cumulus and Apex, I know my last phone conversion with her just a few months after WHLZ 92.5 dissapeared and moved to Marion as 100.5 (I say disappeared since 68% of their listening audience from north of Manning to Walterboro heard nothing but static on 100.5). She told me how disappointed and hurt she was with what was done to wheels and that she just could not believe it and had she kown what Cumulus had in mind that she would never have sold the station. She told me what goes around comes around and would for 92.5 again, so Betty you may have passed on but if your still out there somewhere taking care of business from where you are good going and so now you can rest in peace. My last conversion with her feels a lot better now and you bet on that and this is the only time I will mention it.

Re: Old article about Hot 98.9

That was a great article. IMO, HOT 98.9 was the best Urban station Charleston had giving Z93 a run for it's money. They also had some great jocks. Kelly Mac, Ant Mac, Charlamagne, B-Lord, DuDu Crew(LUV), Divine Martino and Coery Hill.

Was that the Kelly Mac that was at 107.3 Jamz until recently?

Any word as to when the simulcast will be broken? The most important part of all of this hasn't even happened yet - the new format on 95.9 (I'm wondering if it's classic hits)

Yeah, thats her.

Read on another site 95.9 is suppose to get their format on or before July 4th weekend. Wonder what it will be. We all know not country :D How about The Box 2.0 on 95.9

Whatever it is I am willing to bet that it will be some kind of safe format since nobody is willing to try something unique and different... CC1

Isn't a month a little long to simulcast? A week seems like enough.

CHR would seem reasonable, but I have a feeling it's going to be something to go after Y 102.5 and the AC listeners.
Could it be a return of Classic Hits 95.9/95.9-IOP? With the 925thebox site redirecting to their old site, I wonder. I mean, it wasn't failing, the station was growing and had potential. Perhaps Apex is ready to bring it back. Would not be the first time a format has been brought back to a frequency. This would go after the older end of Y, who plays a lot of 70s and 80s music.

Could it be AC? That seems like it'd get in 101.7's way, but maybe AC like 92.1 in Columbia?

I'm betting on something like I mentioned above. It's not going to be hip hop. That would make zero sense.

www.925thebox.com now leads to a www.godaddy.com site displaying www.now959.com

We try to second guess what these companies will do knowing that half of what they do doesn't make sense at all. 95.9 had a great oldies format but will they go back to it probly not. Three strong country stations battling it out makes little sense if any but here we are, now we are trying to predict what they will do with 95.9, gee I guess I will say FM talk, makes as much sense as anything else sort of, maybe.

Not happening. If it was they would have just made an instant swap with both stations.

I'm thinking Classic hits will return. or maybe B95?

Rickey Smiley is still doing a show at the N. Charleston Performing Arts Center and Z93 is giving away tickets to the event.

They didn't even give the station a chance. SMH. And really, I wish corporations would stop "experimenting" with Hip hop formats. If you do it, do it right. Learn how to sell it, and promote it and RUN it.

the thing i hated the most about the box, or with any station is they SPEED UP THE MUSIC!! Sounds like mickey mouse.
