The fact with Kiss also in the market, it would be stupid.
______________

I have to disagree. Based on what I've seen of the artists and songs on WKST's playlist (thank you, Yes.com), though they are referred to as Contemporary Hits Radio, what they play looks like more of an Contemporary Urban Hits Radio. I've never heard of the official radio format standards association declaring CUHR an official radio format, but that does accurately describe what WKST is playing. Not that there's anything wrong with playing mostly urban music.

But I think that opens up an opportunity for some other station to play more contemporary non-urban hits, and thereby carve out a different market niche from what WKST caters to.

And, even if one station (92.9) were to take that approach, that still wouldn't stop 93.7 from taking on 92.9 head-to-head for that market segment, with the understanding that one or the other would eventually beat the other one.

I don't believe that two CHR's (or two identical CUHR's) could both survive for long, but I don't think the fact that one station makes a start at capturing that market should prevent a second one from chasing the same goal. The better one of the two would win, the worser of the two would lose.

Personally, I'd bet a small sum on on 92.9 winning if both stations went after the contemporary non-urban hits fans. But that's just a gut reaction.

Urban-leaning CHR's are sometimes referred to as "Churbans". Kiss isn't really that, the jocks are more mainstream.

The pie's just too small in terms of ad dollars. The market didn't suuport two, three would have no chance (sort of like the DSY-Rebel-KBear country days).

I'd disagree with that entriely, simply because Infinity will be more willing to pay for talent. Steel City could give you Battle & Nene or Steve Rohan.

b929.com has the same administrative / technical contact/address as wltj.com.
The link is currently dead but is registered. Hmmmmmm.... Please bring back CHR to the Burgh, Kiss is just awful.

And they're going to call it B92.9 instead of B93... why am I not surprised?
______________

Rounding frequencies to the nearest whole number for a station nickname made sense when people tuned in using analog tuners. Now that almost every tuner has a digital LCD display, using the exact number makes more sense.

What's more, with the internet so common, and dot-this and dot-that names for businesses, calling a radio station "Bee Ninety-Two Dot Nine" sounds more 21st century than B93.

Yeah screw Christmas music. You should blow it up at midnight on December 25th! Come on, hurry!

How much do you want to bet the last song they play is "Last Dance" by Donna Summer? That was WLTJ signature song on the disco nights. LOL
