923Now.com - Odd Developments

It is a fact that the domain 923now.com has been registered by CBS Radio.

As of this post, when you go to 923now.com, you are greeted with the header, "Charity Non-Prof site" and the subheader "Just another 923now.com weblog." It explains that it is powered by Wordpress, and gives the option of logging in and creating a new blog.

Also on the front page are the following blog menus:

"Hello world!" was posted last night and just reads: "Welcome to 923now.com. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!" It is followed up by a reply from "MrWordPress": "Hi, this is a comment. To delete a comment, just log in, and view the posts’ comments, there you will have the option to edit or delete them."

The "Dippy Do" link goes here: http://dippy.923now.com/ and consists of a post today by "admin" that just reads the subject "Skippy Dippy Do" and the message body "Test 1234". Underneath is the same "Hello World" message referenced above.

"Charity Non-Prof site" links back to the front page.

I guess they're working out the bugs before the big launch. Certainly more entertaining than the standard itm2157.com "This page will go live in 24 to 48 hours" greeting.

I just hope that one of the jocks on the new Now 92.3 is not named Dippy! AAAAAGGGHHHHHH!
 
I just so happen to have a friend at wordpress, he said they built the AMP site in LA. He also said he can't tell me what the new site is for, however they are working on it round the clock and it should launch Very soon.

Makes me think of AMP launching on friday at 5pm if I remember correctly....

What do you mean? Isn't wordpress just do-it-yourself software?
 
Normally I'd blow this off as nonsense as many stations have the 92.3 frequency.

But I remember in '05 this is how members of this board found out about Free Fm, with 923freefm.com getting registered.

So now I'm a believer. I still think K-Rock could have worked if they gave half-a brain towards the playlist. But what do I know... I'm just a listener.

I think maybe come tomorrow or very soon is 92.3 Now FM playing 10,000 songs in a row commerical free. 92.3 Now FM All The Hits NOW...then a brand new song like CBS did out in LA.

This is doubtful, but not to worry! It will all be over in less than a week and then everyone can stop speculating.

This is also doubtful, but it is probably trying really, really hard. CBS can't even build new studios for its NYC cluster of radio stations with adequate facilities to serve them comfortably, ergonomically well and during times of "stress" so why would you hope for something that it cannot possibly achieve?

And on the Twitter front:

The "Now923" account's latest Tweet said to "give them several weeks" and they will "rock in a different manner". I smell shenanigans.

Meanwhile, on the "Now923FM" Twitter account, still no Tweets - but the latest follower has a pretty familiar name - Blake Lawrence. Could he be involved with the new Now?

Unfortunately, I wouldn't look too much into it.

As much as we would like to see K-Rock get some focus and move completely toward an Active Rock or Alternative format, there hasn't been any other signs or hints that this would be the direction ... yet.

However, there's definitely a theme running through this block of songs that recently played on the station, which Slipknot was a part of.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - The Waiting
Green Day - Waiting
White Lion - Wait
Slipknot - Wait And Bleed
Van Halen - I'll Wait
Fugazi - Waiting Room

The theme of waiting. It's as if CBS knows that eyes are on them and either they're having fun taking a shot at radio fans expecting a shakeup, or maybe it is a sign that change is imminent.
