93.1 Playing Rock Tonight

A friend of mine told me he heard 93.1 doing transmitter testing this evening. Rock was being played. Artists heard were Korn, Trapt, Finger Eleven, and The Fray. The test lasted about 10 minutes, in which 92.1 was off the air for. 93.1 then went off the air for about 5 minutes, and back on for about 5 minutes with just a loop of a legal ID.

Sounds like final transmitter testing being done on their new site. Could we see Sacramento's New 93.1 launch tomorrow morning?

It is back on the air shortly after midnight. Of course I was tuned into 93.3 to see what if anything was happening over there, when 93.1 signed on and I missed it, did anyone catch it on tape or whatever?

HOT 93.1 KHJQ

KOSO-93.1 signed off the air a little early on May 31 at 11:59:07PM. 93.1 was dead air for about 5 minutes before KHJQ came blasting away. Their signal sounding as strong as KOSO was here in Stockton. So far, just music, Alternative Rock Music. No DJ's and the hourly ID is "KHJQ POLLOCK PINES-SACRAMENTO-93.1" That's all. And their website appears to be http://www.931hot.com/main.html Looks like it will be called Hot 93.1. And it sounds like their new format is Alternative to fill the void left by KWOD?

Looks like their calls are going to be KCLX. Although there isn't a stream available, their online player says "KCLX" on the title bar.

Their current hourly id's is still KHJQ and their current music is Alternative Rock Music. Could this be just a stunt until the real McCoy?

There's been a lot of tal about "Classic 93.1" or whatever being a ruse, but maybe the alt rock is temporary and the station will become some sort of classic hits variety of formats....maybe they will use this station to replace Jack and turn that one into something else. I hear that CC doesn't believe in paying for the branding of "Jack" formats, so this could be their way of getting rid of the costs associated with the format....then again, maybe they are planning on keeping alt rock with a CHR sounding moniker (hot93.1) and oldies sounding calls (KCLX)....CC doesn't have a good reputation for quality formats with good branding.

Well there is a clue on the website, a picture of Beyonce! OH! By The Way! Welcome to Sacramento News/Talk 93.1 lol lol Or should we be saying News/Talk 92.5

How far South does 93.1 go, does it make for all of the area lost by KOSO moving to 92.9. With a name like Hot 93.1 I wonder if it's format will end up like KOSO.

I'm travelling to Modesto later today. I'll check the car radio!

Their launch party invitation went out today for a party this Wednesday after work. Who believes they will be playing the same music you hear now by Wednesday evening? In fact, who can guess what they'll be playing tomorrow?

Who Knows? Will they still be Alternative Rock and have the format all to themselves? Or will they change to Classic Hits and challenge KCCL-92.1 or will it be Classic Rock and challenge KSEG-96.9 or will it be Urban AC and challenge a similar KHYL-101.1, which they own or will it be a Hot/Modern AC and challenge KZZO-100.5 as well as their own MY 92.5 or will it be Mainstream Top 40 and challenge KDND-107.9 or will it be Rhythmic Top 40 and challenge BOTH KSFM-102.5 and KBMB-103.5? Who Knows?

Your knowledge of FM signals and their respective formats is astounding! Kudos!

My guess is there will be different music on 93.1 each day until Friday, and I'd also like to mention that KYMX 96.1 plays soft rock, whatever the hell that is.

Thanks! The soft rock that KYMX plays is officially called Adult Contemporary or AC but I have also heard the term, Soft AC.

They will be playing the same music we hear now on Wednesday, because the party invitation specifically said you can listen to the new station now at 93.1 on the FM dial.

The signal is quite strong even on the westside of Davis, CA. How about some reception reports.

It's a listenable, sometimes scratchy, signal in North Napa via Sangean HDT-1 receiver, time 7:25 PDT...
The I.D. before going into Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer" was, simply, "93.1"...

Well, I lost KHJQ-93.1 between Lathrop and Manteca.

When you started to lose KHJQ was KOSO strong, in other words no white area, nobody lost a station last night north of Modesto?

I woke up this morning, and now ARMSTRONG & GETTY is on 93.1. So are they doing a Format Of The Day Stunt Until The Official Launch?
