93.3 gone?

Apparently the Labor Day weekend includes Tuesday morning ... and possibly Tuesday afternoon and evening ... and maybe even Wednesday as well. Does anyone know what number we're at in this so-called "countdown"? Did they hit #1 sometime on Monday, and now we're working our way back to #500? I'm confused and am just going to quit listening to all of this musical sludge. I hear that Yesterday's Top Secrets features "not the best-known songs of the '60s, '70s, and '80s, but rather some of the best"; think I'll check out its archives.

This is completely ridiculous. All Access said to expect a different format today, so we'll see. I'm checking every top of hour. If they were going to flip to oldies, why carry on this long countdown? They could've launched the new format at 5pm on Friday and played it up all weekend. I suppose they're probably thinking PPM with this whole stunt.

I've been listening for the last hour and they're playing one hit after another so they're definitely trying to get peoples attention now. Maybe they switch by noon?

Noon is a good time, but it could also be 5pm. Or 9:33am... but they would've promoted that one.

Kool 101.7 would be a direct competitor, rewind is close too

Looks like this station will end up being alot like Majic 105.7 in Cleveland, a station that has done very well in that market for years.

Well they just claimed, "Central Ohio's only oldies station" took a stab at Saga and the old WODB from what it sounded like. Florentino has to be jumping for joy and probably dancing along.

"Twist and Shout" by Beatles would be the first song.

I also thought it was funny how they made fun of the consultants. At least I got a chuckle.

I was wondering if anyone else caught that. Well, Florentino used to work with Saga who is FULL of consultants who took away Oldies and threw Mix on when it got dumped on 971. Saga did the right thing there, the format is DEAD. I don't see why stations still flip to it when just a year or two ago, they were flipping away from it. Mix isn't doing great, but it's doing much better than the old B1079, plus they never really advertised Mix. I didn't see any billboards.

Well if nothing else, this is the best format they've ever had on this frequency. We'll see how well it does.

Gotta give them credit for trying a format that everyone else says is 'dead' ... I kinda figured they would go with an oldies format (in leu of classic hits) the mix on the top 500 songs seemed to have a more oldies feel to it than a typical classic hits station such as 103.5/104.3/103.9.

What's old is new again. I remember reading an article a long time ago about how certain formats run in cycles. Maybe this is a classic case with Oldies.

This would be the fourth or fifth oldies station in Columbus over the last twenty years or so. There were WCOL 92.3, WBNS 97.1, WODB 107.9
and now 93.3. Not counting WUCO 1270 with it's current True Oldies format. So, yes it appears to go in cycles, at least in Columbus.

Look at it this way... They got two PPM books to see how its gonna do and if it fails hard by Nov .. blow it up for Christmas 93.3 and then Jan launch a new format :)

Looks like Hal might want to hold another town hall meeting to see what listeners will want to do with 103.9 since classic hits is on a much stronger signal. Adult hits seems to be doing good in the ppm world in Detroit, Pittsburgh and Cleveland so Ted might have a better chance this time around. It's sad that we are consitently growing while cities losing people still has better formatted radio stations.

Hal's an idiot.
Don't expect any of the NABCO decision-makers to have a clue, because they don't.

Good luck getting something other than rock with Hal.
