93.3 signal upgrade?

It seems like this LP station is getting out better. Even in the downtown area, where the transmitter is located, it was marginal before. Now the signal is steady there and didn't break up until nearly Elk Grove. Were improvements made?

I see no recent upgrades - has one of their co channel "interferers" perhaps gone away?

I see 93.3 (KZHP-LP) has filed an application to move to 106.9; partially so that KUTZ-LP can move their transmitter and move to 93.3.

What would be the other part of the of the equation for 93.3 to move to 106.9? KFRC fm is usually audible in Sac in some form and at times quite good.

As previously mentioned, it doesn't look like they've upgraded anything.

Could be the time of year. This area suffers from some pretty wicked inversion layers.

Could be that KFBK FM 93.1 wasn't interfering as much as usual.

Maybe.... We killed the HD on 93.1 a week or so ago... No digital sidebands to interfere with them from KFBK-FM anymore.

Interestingly enough, the FCC denied that application, saying it actually increases interference. No mention whatsoever of 93.1's HD (which is obviously the major culprit). Thinking this link will work. Then click on the "imported letter":

This could be a blessing in disguise for KZHP if I-<3 decides to leave the HD off for good. They come in way better at my place in Grass Valley also.

I don't quite understand why KZHP would want to move to 106.9. Co-channel interference from KFRC, esp in summer months is significant. Even KRNO creeps into the valley enough to cause problems. KZHP listeners on the east side may also have some noise from 107.1. I also notice the application lowered the antenna a few feet to bump up to 47 watts. I wonder in this case if moving the ERP up closer to 100 watts would alleviate KZHP's current issues?

KFRC in the summer is pretty easy to pick up on the east side of the valley. 80kW off Beacon, stupid move for sure, totally agree.

Probably caused by no more wash from 93.1. Or, perhaps they "pumped up the volume" just as another LPFM in Sac clearly has (or did).
