93.7 WRJM

Word from inside the RP camp is they are about to close the deal on this station.

Will they keep it news talk? (I would & revamp the programming) Or try something different?

WOW! Great news for RP! That big bad stick has HUGE potential, talk about a feather in your cap. Whatever is done will be an improvement in my opinion.

*Insert standard "as long as Amie Pollard never has anything to do with it" comment*

Congrats to TRP! Adding another asset to their cluster. That leaves WOOF as the only stand alone, and they are still kicking butt and taking numbers!

Now what to do with another 100,000 power house???? If I were TRP, I would keep the talk format but revamp it. By doing this you can compliment what you already have, and have no competition. There is lots of ratings and revenue in talk, if exucuted properly. (So omglol, you are right with your quote).

But the real question here is WHY? It' not a secret that TRP are willing to bail and leave our market, or is because they want to expand their cluster and make it more marketable? What is everyone else's thoughts????

i hope not. it's the only fm talker i can pick up down here. the am band is too cluttered listening to coast to coast would be lost.

i heard this station isn't doing too bad here in NWF, either.

this area needs more fm talkers (or perhaps a 10KW am station, non directional)

What's the purpose of your proposed non directional 10kw am? If it's north of Eglin AFB, the signal won't reach the beaches. If it's south of Eglin half the signal will be wasted on fish.

During the last AM filing window several application were made for new stations in the Mobile, Pensacola and Milton areas. I don't believe any applications were filed for Okaloosa, Walton, or south Santa Rosa counties. I wonder why...

It's too bad that WRJM can't move their stick a little south to Bonifay because they would probably put a better signal into PC and FWB as well as Dothan. I think the distances are too tight for any movement, though.

(I don't know if the economic situation in those areas is any better than Dothan and the wiregrass region, so that idea is pure speculation.)

Anyway, isn't their schedule very similar to 1260 am in FWB? They have a decent enough signal during the day, right?

What's the story behind this? I have been listening to 93.7 for... ever. I have never noticed any change in their signal. On I-10 you can pick it up clearly from Crestview to Mariana. To the east, once you start to descend into the Apalachicola River valley the station fades away. To the west, Biloxi's Majic 93 kills it around Milton.

Something happened to their tower back in the day, it's not at full height! I've also heard that they don't run at full power. That part may be wrong, I don't know but they don't completely cover the area they are supposed too. You probably haven't "NOTICED A CHANGE" because it's been that way for awhile. Somebody on this board is bound to be better informed.

By the way you think The Radio People, if they get it, will try to use it as a third country station to compete against TVY ;D

Stewy nice to be back! It's been awhile, everythings great in the land of red ;D Hope life is treating you well!

Just from memory, I believe in the first year they went on the tower (1992?)
someone cut the outer guy wires and some top tower sections fell along with the antenna.
Lucky the whole thing didn't come down. Anyway, they never replaced the missing top
sections, just remounted an antenna lower than before.

headlandradio, good to hear from you. watch out for the PO-lice in dreamland

The Tower was built at a Welding shop in Geneva, best I can remember it was a storm that blew the top sections off.And like it's stated above it was never fixed.

The tower was rebuilt in 1992; it is at the authorized height.
